I posted this same link when the 'What Kind Of Helmet Do You Wear' thread was going on, but it got kind of buried in the middle of the thread and not many people noticed it.

And yes, his brain got 'rattled' and subjected to extreme g-forces. But unless I completely mis-read that article, isn't that one of the main functions of a helmet? To help reduce those g-forces? That's something the Snell helmets appear to be particularly poor at doing. Would a DOT-only helmet have saved Medlen's life? Probably not, but it may have improved his chances....
