    Dial Indicator Mount

This may be classified as a fixture more than a special tool. As some here may know I have been running slotted cam sprockets for several years. Degreeing in cams requires an accurate dial indicator. The magnetic base for a dial indicator mounted on the frame of the bike can give false readings by several degrees due to the movement of the motor on the motor mounts. So I made this fixture to mount my dial indicator directly to the motor. Very accurate.

Here is another that is related. A piston stop to accurately locate TDC is also very important when degreeing in camshafts. I made this one from an old end to a compression gauge and then tapped the center for a bolt. The slot up the side of the threads lets compression out of the cylinder as you turn the motor over with the stop installed.

Let me give homage and thanks to those who developed this tool!!!! I have a set of carbs I am working on and three of the float pins had been driven in so far and hard, it was shocking what it took to get them out. Without this tool to keep the forces applied and spacing across the pins I certainly would have scrapped the carbs for all the broken float pins.

So, this is one tool I will store in my gotta have and don't you dare loose it carb tools bin!!!

                a simple water trap

g,day fellas,, have been busy at work lately, still on the highway, mostly 1000 klm a day dragging explosive mediums to the mines,

a fuel line cracked the other night coming home so whilst replacing the offender, I thought I,d put this little gem up

                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fA6VVnUUghw

have been using it for some time now to make sure it works

Do you have that much trouble with sediment and water in your fuel down there? I've been running a pair of the tiny filters for over 2 years and they haven't collected a thing.

The idea actually started yrs ago after reading a post in here (at least I think I read it right) about the high level of ethanol in fuel in your side of the world, attracting moisture, and then trying to keep it out of the system,,,
I, m sure someone there had an answer but I couldn't, find it so I set about trying different ways to attack the issue.
A fella here in my town got onto some one in India (I think it was) who was making miniature fuel water separators , (the same as on a small tractor or 4 wheel drive) about 30mm high and 20mm across but it led to a cold end with nothing more coming of it

And yes we do from time to time get water in the fuel from the bowser, the how or why I don, t know and I, m using an old tank that spent quite some time dry,, from way back when I did my first video

If someone's memory is jogged about the water separator on the bike please put the link up,, I, d love to see what it looked like
