I haven't been down to watch but it is on the list. Sounds like it might be a winner...
Any trecky fan has to at least give it a try.

I'll pm you in a day or so. I have a story for you.

'Looking forward to the story but I wouldn't even get the engine warmed up going to the theater, it's only two miles away!

A girlfriend up in Canada broke my personal consumer Trek boycott by giving me the complete Star Trek movie boxed collection on DVD for Christmas. It was a kind, wonderful and loving gift given with the best intentions but... I don't watch them.

      Sticking my neck out....

At the risk of being shot down in flames by the anti-nostalgia police I've just seen it and thought it was great, and I "lived long and prospered" right through the original TV series, as it screened here, and more than a few bad movie remakes as well .

I'm an old Trekkie fan from the original TV series when I was a wee lad. I had a real hard time with the "Next Generation" series when it aired. But over time it has become one of my favorite series next to the original. The movies were ok but a bit "overdone starwars" for me. I never did really get into the Starwars thing, but that's just me. No disrespect intended. I'm excited to see this new one coming out. There seems to be a lot of positive comments so far about it.

              Gee Scott...

It's too bad you feel that way. You're probably not hurting the franchise too much by withholding the price of your ticket, however, you just may be depriving yourself of the best two hours that ten bucks can buy. Being an original Trekkie loyal to the original series and feeling pretty much the same as you on several points, I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised! I hope you get past your boycott and allow yourself this delightful romp into the 23rd century.

                Pro...

"Speaking of crotchety ... where's my buddy Promepheus?"

Last time I talked to our resident grouch, he was doing okay and it looked like he was hanging up his keyboard for a while. Let's hope he comes back someday. I miss his stinging commentary on mostly everything.

                  Ps...

Time to drop a name. My cousin played a role in the original series. She played Losira in an episode called "That Which Survives". Here's a test. Can anyone tell me what that episode was about?

                    According to Google:

"After the Enterprise landing party beams down to investigate a geologically interesting planet, their ship is hurled across the galaxy. Kirk and company find a deserted outpost guarded by the deadly image of a beautiful woman."

So that makes Lee your cousin? Cool!

Though I did grow up watching the original Star Trek series with Capt Kirk, aka Shatner, I think my favorite captain was Picard played by Patrick Stewart. He kept cool like a captain I knew while serving on a ship (378' USCG Cutter) years ago.

I kinda agree. However, I wasn't around to see the originals until they were re-runs, but I did grow up a trekkie. I love the line in Weird Al's "White & Nerdy" that says, "Only question I ever thought was hard, was do I like Kirk, or do I like Picard."

I'm a fan of Picard as well. Patrick Stewart is a fine actor and it comes through in the series. Next Generation was the only spin off that I have any affection for. The others just didn't give me whatever it is I got from the rest.

Here's a pic of Lee as Losira if anyone wants to know who she is. What the heck. If you have a name in the family, you might as well drop it! LOL

I don't know how to embed a photo, but here's a link to a site that shows her character.
