Welcome to the forum! Glad you were able to find this place early, before stuff started getting frustrating. If you don't have a manual yet, you can download both of them from my website (in the link in my signature). Feel free to ask any questions you might have, and be sure to post pictures to let us see your progress! Be sure to clean out the carbs really good before you "hit the open road". The dirty fuel tank probably made the carbs really dirty too. They get a little mad if dirt gets in them.1980 XS850SG - Sold
1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).
Whether you think you can, or you think you cannot - You're right.

Mighty Eleven - Welcome! There's a post in tech tips you may want to check - What to look for on a neglected xs/xj 1100. Doesn't sound like yours has been neglected, but it gives you a lot of good stuff that should probably be checked anyway.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Welcome to the board. Just take it easy down there in South Florida. I live in the Upper Keys 16 yrs, WPB a year and Clearwater area for four years. All those drunk tourists scared the crap out of me, especially in the Keys.
Enjoy your bike and all the great views down that way.
