I have one, a radiation symbol on my right upper arm, it's out when I want it to be and away when I want it to be. I got it when I hit 10 years as one who uses radiation as their play toy. My wife doesn't care for it but knows that I've thought about others and with the inceasant crabbing she can generate, knows that at some point if it gets too much, I'll make my decision as to what I want and get it...I guess she feels the silent protest works best as not to inspire me (yes, I can be a real a$$ h@!e when I want to) and we actually get along pretty well even though I do have my hot buttons. I don;t really know if I want any more so I guess I'm not ready for another one yet. have a nice day and ride safe

Huh? What's that? OOOOHHH... TATTOO's! Well, now that's a different story.
Uh, no... no. Don't think they'd look too good on me either! Got me too many of them thar scar tissue here, there and, well... all over. Wouldn't fit too good with them skin pictures either (no, no. not the ones in them dirty books! real skin pictures! )
Naw... couldn't mess with my body like that... it's God's temple ya know. Just wish He'd quit messing with it too!

I'm a BIG target
Suprised again ! I would have never thought that bikers would have such a stereotypical viewpoint on tattoos. My first tattoo(at age 21) was a 2"x 3" eagle/maple leaf/scroll on my upper arm. It was done by the president of a local 1% club. He had the only tat shop around. I now have two half sleeves (shoulder to elbow) full colour tattoos. They were done by a tattoo artist and they both mean alot to me. One sleeve depicts my love of motocycling and the other is a memorial tattoo. I am told that more than 50% of all tattoos are dedicated to the memory of a loved one. I would absolutely consider another tat if I felt the need to.
Tattoos are a form of rebellion for many young people. As are clothing, music and raucous behavior. We rebelled too, with long hair, drugs, music, patched blue jeans and free love(for those that can recall the late 60's and early 70's). The so called "tramp stamp" is often there to express their individuality and to bug adults. (Us)
Tattoo opinions seem to be like motorcycle opinions. The strongest opinions against come from people who who have never had or even been on a motorcycle.
By the way I also love Sashimi. (raw fish) I KNEW, I would hate it, until I tried it. But that's as far out on the ledge I'm wiiling to go. Thx Rick.I May Be Crazy, But I Have A Good Time.

I have a couple, as well as some piercings. My wife also has some ink and piercings. It's not really seen as the big rebellious thing to do by my (admittedly younger) generation, it's really not a bigger deal than getting your ears pierced.
The wife and I got tattooed together on our honeymoon (we had been planning it, we didn't just get drunk and do it spur of the moment) and I think we'll prolly do another one at 5 years if not before. I have a few more I want to get.
Will it look silly and gross when I'm 70? You bet. Will everyone else look silly and gross at 70 whether they have tattoos or not? You bet.--

1977, 19 years old, in the Navy, and I'm fuppeduck. We're in Hong Kong. Tattoo parlors all over the place. A few of my buddies have tats, but it didn't seem like the thing for me to do...I don't like pain. Well, in my inebriated state I talked the guys that I was with into going into this one parlor. I just wanted to see if he had this one particular design. I had recently read a High Times and saw an ad for a 'Thai Power' isomeriser.(?) The artwork was cool. It showed a Thai stick morphing into three dragons heads. Really nice work. Now remember, I'm fuppeduck. I start looking at the designs available. I spotted one that was very similar to the one in the magazine, but not near as good a drawing as the magazine ad, but remember, I'm fuppeduck. I asked the artist (for lack of a better term) how much for that one. "$40" he answered. I think about it, and dig for my wallet. Only $20. I look over at my buds, and 'Webb' says forget it, you don't like tattoos, remember? "Yeah, but this would look so cool... on my chest." It would have been about 12 inches tall.
I'm really glad that my buds knew that I hate tattoos (when sober), and none of them would lend me the money I needed. I probably would have been very pizzed off when I came to and saw that 'thing' on my chest, and would have wanted to kick whosever ass lent the money.
A loved one's name? What happens when/if that loved one is no longer loved? There's a constant reminder of someone I'd like to forget about. Tribal arm band? Now that's original.
My oldest son got a tat of the Japanese charachter for peace on his forehead. Although the meaning is harmless, he now has this big red squiggle on his face that everybody can see. Most of the general public doesn't care for tats, especially one they can't avoid seeing, and if I were an employer, knowing that, he would never have a job dealing with the public. he would have to work in the back somewhere.
So anyway, some like'em, some don't. I don't.

I've been thinking strongly about the kind of tribal tattoo that goes just above the bicep and all the way around the arm... I really like the look...

I like Ink!
Well, when I was in the Ukrainian "Kozatstvo," I had not choice!
"Tryzub" on my left shoulder and a Ukrainian Orthodox cross on my right. (Just kidding about the Kozatstvo. They wouldn't take me )
I have my zodiac symbol (Pisces) and SWMBO's zodiac symbol (Libra) intertwined on my right calf.
On my left calf I have the Yamaha tuning forks symbol ripping out from my flesh. I got it 2 days after Pathfinder crossed over to the other side.
I still miss that SOB...
I'll post up pictures later.
