I would think that would depend on the person riding the bike.
Well, I ride like an old man..... OK, a sane old man. So I'm guessing from the responses that I should be just fine without getting an oil cooler put on.

I used to live in your neck of the woods, and knowing what I know (very little) I wouldn't run an oil cooler, unless you just want to impress the local kids with all the shiney stainless steel braided hoses. I would be more concerned with the brakes overheating, with all the mountianous roads (sigh), and the trip back down that big 6886 foot summit you have there near Gorham.
Last time we were in Gorham, we took a ride towards Berlin, and as we rounded a corner, what large, antlered animal do think we encountered, standing right in the middle of the friggin road? Had it been dark, we would have been sharing the front seat of the mini van with Bullwinkle, or we would have been taking a dip in the Androscoggin. (Anybody else here know what the Androscoggin is?)

I had that happen to us one year when I took my sons to the Kangamangus Hwy in my car. Scared the crap out of me but luckily I was quick on the brakes. There stood a HUGE female moose right in my lane and she must have been thinking, "Go ahead...give it your best shot."

Ummm.. I don't get it?
Thanks Tod. I've often wondered about how the cooler got fed.
This is something you should definately not take anyone's word for. No telling how many companies or people made an adapter over the years, so you should check yours out to be sure.

I even thought about running several feet of line back to where my airbox used to be and mount a spin on filter there.. just never got done yet. lol.

Why not just get the spin on filter adapter that is available through the site? I know I'm thinking really hard about it, I guess I should check to see if it will work with my oil cooler on my new (to me) engine when I install it. Now I just gotta go through it and make sure everything is good before I install it (and get a starter and clutch cover so I can get it fully together and all before installing it).

Having something (Like a filter) hanging down on the bottom of the bike isn't conducive to my riding style. I already ding and scrape the clamps and things under there. I lost a drain plug on the bike the first day I was test riding it before buying it and all that oil dumped right in front of the back tire. I'd hate for that to happen from a leak in the filter from hitting a high spot in the road with the shocks compressed or some road debris hitting it since I ride even more aggressively now. I need all the ground clearance the bike affords me now, and still manage to do stupid stuff like this... Notice the back of my front fender and the location of my oil cooler.
I'm not trying to sway anyone else's opinion from the SOFA units sold here. These are just MY personal reasons for wanting the filter in a more protected area.

P.S> After posting that photo, I see it doesn't show up very well. I will show a better one later.
