    Hey Jim

Congratulations. Would be pleased to help adjust valves. Need to set a date, Seems we had talked of a meet up in January, but everybody must have got busy.

Well the valves are fine in it checked today the cam chain is stretched like a you know what on a Saturday night cam tensioner is at the end and still have play in it. I can’t understand that on a bike with 54000 km my xj has 70000 on it and lots of room left in the tensioner anyways I am ordering a new chain today does anyone have a chain breaker I can borrow if not I will by a new one.

You can cut the chain with a dremel or a hacksaw. Protect the motor from shavings.

I have one, seems to work well for riveting, but the dremil works best for breaking. I am traveling on Thursday, back on Tuesday. I can leave it at my office if you let me know. I can also mail it.

Great...just great. Now you've got me wondering where the heck I put the Maxim "Yamaha" tank plates I accidently ordered. They were slighly too small to fit the screw holes for my XS Special.

If I can find them, I'll send them to you free, in a weird sense of teamwork here at XS11.com. It's the "finding" part that may be difficult.

Nice find there! I know the dealership where I bought mine new just told me a couple years ago that my Venturer was the only one they ever got in cause for the most part back then, if someone was wanting a touring bike they bought the Wing. They were and still are a dealer of Honda and Yamaha. Said they sold alot of Specials and Midnites. So, yea, the Venturer 1100's are somewhat few and far between. As you can see there are some minor differences between the two(Thanks Madmax as I had trouble enough posting the pic first time). Neither of these bikes came with the tail trunk. It was a Yamaha accessory add-on you had to purchase, and was offered in a couple different configurations. Some of the Venturers had fork and trunk side reflectors, some didn't. Mine is back without, changing trunk assemblies, as that is the way I originally bought it. I do have the original seat in the closet, just like new still. The Corbin is just way more comfortable for long hauls, and the original was only on the bike a week when new, so it still is like new. Still have the instrument cover, as it had to come off putting on the Vetter stereo housing. Get that beast mechanically sound and putting on a TKat fork brace will make a totally different handling ride at low speeds/cross-winds/ and occassional twisting it up to 7grand in fifth(that's bout all your gonna get with a barn door on the front fighting the elements.)Good luck, and you will enjoy the protection and comfort of the fairing and lowers.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

                          P.S. Hi Gary and welcome
Well as I said, they are either buried somewhere here in my apartment or over at Gary's in ME. It may take some time but I should be able to find them.

Great find, Jim. Nice job on the XJ restoration too. Look forward to seeing either/both in the not too distant future.

March is finally here... snow should be gone by the end of the weekend. Won't be long now, gents, bikes will be rumblin' down the road.

                            Ahhh... can't wait!
