I'm getting one of these for my XS.... My windshield on the vetter is high and my head cooks in my full face from lack of air. I have an old trooper helmet that my Dad wore on this bike but I don't trust a 32 year old helmet. I really like the quick down shield on the EXO-100 and the removable ear muffs. Those were the selling points for me!

My birthday's @ the end of the month. So I think the kids are gonna buy it for me for my birthday... They don't know it yet thou!

    • I wear an Arai Signet GT full face. It was one of the helmets my Dad bought me as a teenager and has still held up over time. I was using one of the cheap Zmax helmets off Ebay up till I found that in his basement over the summer.

        Geeze, now you've done it!

        • Care and cleaning

I know a little off subject but when we adv paying about $300 for a decent helment, care for them helps to get your monies worth from them. Helments mainly die when the foam dies. When it does not fit right, you tend to replace them and also those oders that develop over time. One thing that can be done to help is the enviroment they are left in. An open garage or basement is prone to have moisture which in time can create a moldy oder. Garages have a wide array of chemical oders that I am sure are not good and can disolve foam over timeand might even make an old man's hair fall out . . The other issue is heat, leaving the helment sit out in the sun or hot garage for hours in the summer I am sure does the foam no good.

Well, God forbid I ever lay the bike down or get into an accident, I'd still like to think my older will offer some protection, even if it allows me an open-casket funeral protecting my face from road rash, lol. Whatevs, it is what it is. That helmet was high-dollar when new. I'll take the risk.

            • From my own experience being run off the road by someone who decided they needed my lane to make a blind curve and a riding buddy hitting a deer last week, I highly recommend a full face helmet. Neither of us would be here today if we were wearing anything less.
I wearing mine no matter what the weather is or how far I am going.

Here is the helmet my buddy was wearing. Right side is completely crushed. The face shield did it's job until it ripped loose from the helmet.
the only head trauma was a mild concussion, no bruises or abrasions.
He came down on his head and right shoulder hard enough to break his scapula, tear his rotator cuff, break 4 ribs, and bruise a lung.
I'm a firm believer in wearing all your gear all the time.

Last year a friend of mine high sided and received exactly the same injuries. He was wearing a DOT half helmet. It was crushed on one side. I hate to think about what might have happened had he been wearing one of those novelty helmets so many Harley types wear.

                • Wow. I'm just glad I wear a helmet. Michigan passed the no-helmet law this year. I admit, I did ride once without a helmet and felt naked without it.

                    • Helmet

I use a Bell half helmet on the 81 Venturer. And a full face Vega helmet on the 79 Special (has a smaller windshield and more buffeting).
