Definitely nice bikes! I need to get a set of saddlebags like that for MY Midnight.
I took 2 years of french in High School, but have since forgotten most of it. My little sister, however, graduated college with a minor in French. I would definitely like to go and visit there someday though. My mom lives in England and tells me about her trips across the Channel every once in a while. Really pretty countryside over there. And TONS more history than what we have here.

      Hi Cobia,
thanks for the interpretation. How blindingly obvious once you point it out.
      I am embarrassed.
And I would never "pick at" a Francophone for his use of English until I could do so in French.
And I still want to know, where did he find those leftie pipes?

        Bonjour mon amie.
Welcome, i'm from England, and i met a few of the French club members at the international rally in Germany last year. Very helpful in directing me to a local bike shop when one of my header pipes split. Anyway, have you seen this French club website? http://xs1100clubdefrance.free.fr/spip/ , all the best wishes. Au revoir.

          Hi,
Thanks for your reception, full of humor !
Your answers allow me to make progress in English language

1100 XS Sport: This motorcycle was bought last month. His reservoir is not that of the model sport but that of a standard model. One of my friends promised me to give me a reservoir Sport.

For TopCatGr58: I love The Beatles, and more particularly, The Withe Album, with the specials guest: Eric Clapton (God !) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7qpfGVUd8c and the great Billy Preston : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAyUET7uZws

My favourite American actors are: Robert Redford (Brubaker) and particulary, the movie The Horse Whisperer. The french title was "L'homme qui murmurait à l'oreille des chevaux" ( The man who murmured to the ear of the horses ), A River Runs Through It (i'm a fly fisherman) and Steve Mcqueen : Bullit and The great Escape (The great "Exhaust" )

For fredintoon: My 650 xs was finished last year. The exaust is a "Omar pipes" www.omarsdtr.com . This exaust is very nice, with a great sound, but the french cabs...
For FJ111200: If you like "stock" bike, in here is a new with some kilometres. Splendid! http://xs1100clubdefrance.free.fr/sp...php?article109

          For all: Thanks !

            For a real treat...

try posting in French and see how we do...

(I think what you are calling a reservoir, we call a gas tank... it all works though)

Robert Redford is my favorite actor too... although probably not for the same reasons...

                Hi BzB,
if the european model XS11s are anything like the North American ones, your "Sport" is my "Special" and the "Special" gas tank holds only 33 litres of fuel.
There are also issues with the different styles of in-tank fuel level sensor.
                Perhaps your Sport's PO
(PO = Previous Owner and is sometimes an insult, DPO = Dreaded Previous Owner and is definitely an insult)
put on a larger gas tank to allow the bike to be ridden further than to the next gas pump?

                    Hi fredintoon
Yes, in fact I think that there are many identical parts between XS "Sport" and Special (Midnight more particularly): Gas tank, brakes, exhaust... For the exhaust, those are very difficult to find in Europe...
The Previous Owner has prefer taking up a gas tank "standard". Indeed not to break down of fuel... I don't like this tank on this bike, because that's less pretty.

                      Hi BzB,
I previously posted that the "Special" fuel tank capacity was 33 litres.
I do not remember which button I pushed on my calculator to convert US gallons into litres but it was certainly the wrong one.
Quoting from Clymer's handbook; the US model "Standard" fuel tank holds 20 litres and the US model "Special" fuel tank holds 15 litres.
While you may consider that the "Standard" tank is less pretty, I must say that when the "Standard" tank that I installed on my "Special" takes me the extra 45KM to the next gas pump that "less pretty" tank looks absolutely beautiful.

                        Hi fredintoon
I like these bikes. But I prefers also the bike in their original aspect. I find that the standard gas tank gives a more massive line to the Sport. But that remains a question of taste...and colors !

                          Hey BzB,

Welcome to the board, I agree with you, I like the look of the special or in your case sport tank. I also like the bike as more of a cruiser model which why I like the special version. I think if I wanted a more Cafe or "crotchrocket" style, then the standard tank would be much more appropriate.

This chrome gas tank was painted by a French artist Guilaume Renou. He lives in Bordeaux...
One of my friends painted the black strike and varnished the gas tank with the decals

Very nice work. I like the wrap-around case guards.
Bad English from feriners don't bother me none. You should hear how yankies butcher "Texan."
I once heard English described as "pigion German."
English is so full of slang and trade terms... I am really impressed by people who master English as a second language.

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
