  • engine polishing

Have just started to polish the engine
and thought id stick a cpl of pics up,
I grounded down the raised castings
i also grounded the edge of the alt cover and casing flush which
gives the look of a machine finish.

I ground down this... I ground down that... Blah, blah, blah.
(I've got a grinder and files...)

I wanna know how, and with what, you polished the engine!

that area only took a cpl of hours but i had to strip the paint off first, i wont seal it, ill just keep polishing.

I used the brown and white rubbing compounds on a dremel and a bench grinder.

heres a link to the uk site where i did a write up.

I use BRASS wire wheels that are ether on a hand held drill or on a bench mounted grinder. Glass beading is also a good place to start. After all the oxidation is removed the alloy can be polished with power tools and or by hand with any number of products. Pick your products with care however to make sure they are PH balanced for alloy and do not contain ammonia. The results will be dependent on how much time you want to put into it.

I guess if ya can't ride it, might as well polish it.
