G'day, Just Bought an XS1100 to Restore

Hi fellas, I posted this in it's own thread, but figured it would hurt to put it here as well
G'day,
I got to the stage of being ready to test fire the '81 XS1100R I recently bought.
I was getting a reluctant winding of the starter but intimitant and then dead. (A mate was fiddling with the leads to his jump pack) In searching for loose connections I eventually found two disconected single leads behind the fuse box. These two leads are 1 white with blue stripe and 1 black are bound together off the loom which comes down from under the tank from the handle bars.
The white with blue stripe single lead married up easily to a corresponding wire to the flasher unit.
But the black one has no mate to plug into. I cannot find a vacant female black lead to plug it into. Which logically would have to be very close to the rear of the fuse panel as that is where the male end stops.
Both leads are male connections.
Indicaters will not flash and the starter button is dead.
Can anybody tell me where I should be looking for the black female end lead. Or at least where the missing lead should be please?
All other electricals working, even the low fuel light. lights, pass, high beam it's all a go.

Well done
Yes, the black wire connects with a green/yellow on the flasher relay so it is a bit confusing. The blue/white is for the starter solenoid as I guess you found out.
To make your life easier in the future, HERE is a link to a colour wiring diagram. I made it for the Sport model but it also identical to the Aussie RH model.'84 Sport

Thansk shappers, I was leaving the indicator to later on...
GREAT NEWS IS....SHE LIVES!
fired her up 15 minutes ago and she is blowing some expected blue smoke from sitting and some extra lube I put into top of cylinders. NO strange noises and chug...what a feel of grunt I got from her and that was standing beside her.....sitting on her is gonna feel great...restarts first wind over and looks to be needing some new gaskets and seals...

Nice pictures, it seems to be fairly complete and original apart from the exhaust. You've managed to hang onto the fairing which is a lucky break. They normally get taken off and lost over the years..
The black chrome seems to have suffered a lot. You'll have a long search if you'd like to replace it all as it doesn't come along very often in good condition. Perhaps you might powdercoat all the black parts if you don't care about 100% originality.
Great project, enjoy!!'84 Sport

Hello AusLonerider and welcome from the other side of the earth. Still amazes we can do that.
That is a great looking project you got there. It looks fairly original from what I know. Looks like what was deemed the Midnight Special here in the US. I recall seeing the 1.1 being the special in the European markets. I think.
Anyway, good luck on the project. The folks here are ALWAYS very helpful and an amazing source of knowledge. The feeling of success of getting the beast fired up should spur you on.

Well, I was planning on it being an ongoing project, but after getting slam dunked on Wednesday night. The luxury has to go, to free up the budget for a replacement transport ride. I hate public transport
The sale will only be listed here and available to forum members until end of June, then I begin selling parts...would rather see her go as a project to someone.
