How timely. Last night on the way to Wally world in the cage, dark two lane, conversing with the wife and I see sumthin outa the corner of my eye. Deer running across the road. Grab some brakes and head toward the shoulder. That furry sucker was leading me like a WW2 machine gunner. I end up on the shoulder and he/she slams into the rear door. Deer gets up and runs off, damage to car consisted of deer slobber on the door. Being a '90 model car, the sheet metal survived, if I had been in my '02 Mazada, I'd be looking at replacing a door.

I had the same thing happen to me years ago in a little Cavalier. I saw the deer and went off the right shoulder as he started aross the road. He angled perfectly like a Kamikaze and ran into the side of the car at a dead run. Head ripped off the side mirror.. and I had two hoof marks skidded down the side. When it spun him around, his azz caved in the back quarter panel. He ran off also..

I've made it a point to pay back a few of his brethren since then... guilty by association! lol.

It wasn't a bear. It was bigfoot. I've been to Talihina three times now, and have not seen a bear. Proof positive there are not bears in OK, had to be bigfoot. In fact, I don't think bears even exist. I've spent plenty of time in Colorado and never see any. Yet all the time my relatives go on about the bears getting into the trash and we saw one over there and it was on the porch blah blah blah. What a load of mularkey. There are no bears, anywhere!

Hopefully everyone can tell I'm actually jealous a little? Not about the having to swerve part and all, but actually seeing a bear!

MY first time bow hunting, spent an entire weekend in stands, driving deer, tracking deer. Never saw a single frickin deer the whole weekend. however, on my way home, driving in the heart of the city, an eight pointer walks across the road in front of me. Never been so tempted to gun the car in my life.

                        Yeah,

Deer are bad enough. but moose, elk, horses and cattle are all tall enough that you take the legs out from under them and they end up in the front seat with you...not good. Hit one on a bike or in a car at speed and your done.

Deer..when I used to own a Concours, there was a member of the Concours Owners Club that hit one at about 60...he went right through it, literally tearing it in half, then skidded to a stop on the shoulder. He was unhurt. His bike had damage to the forks and the fairing but he was able to ride it into the next town. He even had pics.

                          oklahoma wildlife

I was up around the knasas border back in august, and I saw what had to have been a jaguar cross the road in front of me. No kidding, way to big for a bobcat, and was a dark charcoal color, almost black. It stretched from nose to tail almost all the way across one lane of the highway. Freaked me out, I grew up around cougars in Oregon, but never saw a wild jaguar before.
