Cobia...you did real good!Jardine spaghetti exhausts are prolly the most desirable for our bikes.I recently bought one of the newer Jardine designs that is no longer made. The sound is better than my MAC 4into 1 but its more mellow sound compared to the Kerker 4 into 1 on my other bike....to me the Kerker sounds more badass than anything else out there. And with me being hearing impaired...I can really hear the Kerker

      Stainless?????

What makes you think it's a stainless exhaust? I'll tell you for sure that stainless don't rust.....

Actually some stainless does rust. Some 400series stainless will rust. 300 series wont.I machined some parts out of 416 once and the scrap parts sat outside. It didnt take too much time to rust them.I thought before that that no stainless will rust either.I talked to our steel supplier and he filled me in.I dont know what material they use for exhaust but you are probably right to think they wouldnt use a grade that would rust on a motorcycle.

          Yep, they do sound bad##ss

Mine don't have the megaphone they just have the "lake pipe" (I gues that's what it's called) effect and it looks and sounds real sweet.
That's quite a stable you have there, btw, kind of a tease to see another one behing the one you're talking about (insulated and all!!)!!!...LOL!!
          Very nice looking bike(s).

            re: Stainless

Having been in the marine environment most of my life I learned that "stainless" does not meant "rustless". In fact most SS steel will rust if left exposed to the environment for any length of time, especially the marine environment.
Stainless means that it will resist the tendency to show rust longer than other metals, but will still rust eventually.
As Tarzan rightly mentioned, there are different grades of SS with corresponding levels of "rust resistance". I don't know what the numbers are but I do know that when I purchase SS bolts and such for my boat, I always seek the 316 or 306 series of SS because of the stronger resistance to oxidation. That is what the better marine suppliers usually stock.

And Yes, XS11lover... they do sound real bad**ss. Can't wait to get them on my keeper '80 std. Seems as if the thickness of the SS gives them a different resonace.

Mad-max - I have a Kerker 4x1 on my '80 std and it does sound great, but I'm still going to replace it with this 4x2 ss jardine because it sounds even better. Not louder but just plain better, mellower and more powerful sounding.

                Tarzan,
I will be needing it. It will be case of musical exhausts.
The SS one is going on my keeper 80G, the Kerker on it now is going on the XJ, and the RC that's on the XJ is going on the 79F.
Eventually, both the 79 and the XJ will be sold.
Sorry, it's real nice too. I just packed it and it sounds great.

Yes I agree the Jardine is a mellower sound than the Kerker...I believe this is a result of the Jardine having a Glasspac muffler whereas the Kerker does not.I like the sound of both exhausts, but the Kerker is louder to me which isn't that bad of a thing

My Kerker is a glass pack as well. It rattles when the glass wears out.

                          Will I need to re-jet?

When I change my 4x1 Kerker for the 4x2 SS Jardines on my '80G, will I have to re-jet the carbs? The PO told me they re-jetted it for the Kerker....

Most likely you will...if it was another 4 into 1 my guess is it wouldn't matter but going to a 4 into 2 prolly means rejetting.

This one's gone to a good home!!

                                Hey folks,
Sold my '79F today and it's going to a good home. As a matter of fact we're gaining a new member from it. Keep an eye out for a new member from Popmpano Beach, FL. You saw the pics of what it looked like when I got it, at the beginning of the thread, here are a few of how it left. Except for the exhaust, which I replaced with an almost new Yamaha factory replacement, since I keping the Jardine spaghetti 4X2 for my '80G. This so I can fit my SOFA.

Lot's of work and lots of love but it left purring like a kitten. Hope the new owner takes care of it, as I think he will.
