Anybody notice that every day there seems to be a new member that is totally bogus?..its like they are spammers or sumthin...you can always tell by the gobblygook they leave as personal info.So my guess is the mods know whats up and delete them..it seems they keep coming out of the woodwork...so to say..

Asked the same question. Why did the member count on the home page go up and then down again. TC said that we have 20 or 30 spammers sign up everyday. They watch the new ones and as soon as they post they are deleted. What's the ST board?? And Fred is a sweetie-pie. His bark is worse than his bite. I think - he barked at me - but he hasn't bit me yet.

I think all forums have that same problem. I belong to a forum for my fish aquariums, and they get that all the time too. It's all just part of being on the Internet, I guess...

            Which ST board?

I am with the ST-Owners.com.That site would not allow anybody to be dissed. Its a very mature group and almost nothing dramatic is allowed to go very far.We welcome all bikes and riders. We love the added perspective that gives. As long as the discussion is repectful then we can talk abt anything.
What I am talking abt here at Ch.11...take a look at who the newest member is and then click on their profile...nuff said.Well it looks like the newest bogus member has left or was deleted...but usually their profile is nothing but a bunch of meaningless BS.

Same here on my Mustang Forums, we get spammers all the time, but you have to confirm your email address and most are bogus and can't post anything. Then I ban the email source server like *@outblaze.ru and the IP addresses.....seems to work! Alot are from Russia, etc...

                        Hey Dave, and others,

Yes, these ARE Spammers, some 30-50 a day!!!

We, too, require confirmation of email, however, with our old version of the Vbulletin Forum program, the spam bots have learned how to bypass this process, and MANY get directly registered, and that's how we get the occasional Porn posts!

They use spoofed IP addresses and email servers, so it's next to useless in trying to ban them, so I just weed them out EVERY DAY!!

You may NOW notice the new Announcement regarding the pending upgrade that will finally be taking place this next weekend, Oct 10-11, 2008. It will have some additional security measures that we hope will help reduce the # of spammers getting thru the registration process!
