  • Better bailout plan

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonfide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family? Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved. Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads Put away money for college - it'll be there Safe in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs. Buy a new car - create jobs Invest in the market - capital drives growth Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it. Sell off its parts. Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .

And remember, The Family plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Hmmmm, half a mill in my pocket, what would I do? Stash enough for the rest of the daughters college.Pay off EVERYTHING I owe. Buy the 2lb pack of Oreos. Buy a 80SG and a 80 Midnight to go with my G standard. Paint my 35 year old truck. Find my old '70 Roadrunner and buy it back. Leave the sliding glass door open at the same the AC was running. Drive the 35 year old truck twice a week. Buy a better brand of beer at Johns and Kats next gathering. And just maybe, hook Prom up with someone with a one track mind that does not include household chores, shopping or any other activity remotely related to holding a wrench or garden tool, unless of course she asks for it.

No, no, no........you just don't get it. The bail outs are yours and my tax dollars. The gov't is not about to give it back to us. God forbid! The bail outs are for the rich corporate fat cats and is a gift from us to them via the people WE voted into office. And if you didn't bother to vote then you can't complain much...

Remember before re posting emails. check the math 85 Billion divided by 210 million is 404.761905 or 405.00 if you want to round up and by your math of 200 million it's 425.00 so after taxes where you do want your 200 bucks sent? Drilled holes in that faster then a ECM.

If, in fact, the general populace was given a quarter million in a windfall, the bankruptcy rate would increase. Inflation would skyrocket to the point that half a million a year would be just chicken scratch. The value of the dollar would plummet and the US would probably be thrust into third world status.

I do not agree with the bailout in any way shape or form.

The government controlling private sector business and the redistribution of wealth seems to be perfectly aligned with the ideas of a well known author by the name of "Marx". The bail out is the largest move toward socialist government this country has seen to date. It even trumps Billary's attempts to governmentalize health care. Who the hell wants a bunch of pencil neck left wingers that say it is ok to kill half born children in charge of their loved ones' well being?

This is America. We all have the equal chance to succeed, and to fail. If the corps over extended their reserves while the economy was bullish, and forgot to save some back for a catastrophic event, its their own damn fault. They need to suffer the throes of financial defeat like the rest of us would have to and eat scraps from the McDonald's garbage like I would have to do if I lost everything.

This country was born on the blood of patriots the likes of which we will never see again. If the early US would have been threatened by attack from another country, I have no doubt that Washington would have put his combat garb back on and lead the troops personally. Even as late as the second world war, this country stood for something. Hirohito, arguably the worlds most powerful person at the time said "I have awakened a sleeping giant" when we bolstered our defenses, and ultimately handed his ass to him. All those that have gone before us shed blood for freedom. Now we face having that freedom taken by someone with a sharpened pencil and a ledger book, and drooling with greed.

              Its just not right.

Today we wouldn't know the freedom our forefathers gave us if it ran up and kicked us in our butts.

Really sad, so many died for it and we have let it get away.

Hmm... So, let's say so the US government goes ahead with a bailout. Where does the money come from? Do they just tax every man, woman, and child $2300 or so, give it to the big corporations in trouble, and call it square? What if somebody doesn't pay their share? Or, do they float some bonds to get some outside money, say from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, China, or Russia? As a dumb Canuck, I just don't see how this can be a good thing...

I think they should just let them fail. Prosecute the crooked and then auction off all the assets.

This seems to be one of those things that the average guy on the street (liberal or conservative) is against but the idiots in charge can't seem to wait to push this crap through.

What I don't understand is why Franklin Raines and the likes of him aren't already in prison with the keys thrown away!

Where does the money come from??? It comes from money the U.S. borrows from China, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and is paid back by yours and my tax dollars with interest!

That is EXACTLY how the war on terror is being funded and has been funded! And everybody knows what happens to you if you don't pay your taxes. They come looking for you sooner or later...

The real terrorists aren't over in the mideast they are right here in Washington and have the wealth of this country hijacked, for quite a few years!

I've heard that voluntary thing before. Matter of fact I had a friend that really believed that. I think he has 8 months left on his income tax invasion conviction. But I call dibs on planedicks bike when the feds sell it off.

here in Alberta Canada a couple of years ago - every man woman and child with a registered address in the province got $400 tax free. That's 'cos Alberta is doing so well from all the oil and gas and had a surplus, as opposed to a bail out - but my point is, it's very achievable and does a huge amount to the moral of the people and hence the support for the federal authority.
