    I AM SWMBO

Since I AM the SWMBO , this was an easy question:

Loves to ride, wrenches own bike, buys beer and fixes a mean lasagna for those who show up to help, has a mean streak for cheaters, liars and thieves and two fast great danes for folks who don't leave quick enough.

I gotta big garage and parts on the kitchen table. . .single and plan on staying that way despite being best friends with my ex-husband AND his second wife, as well as my ex-mother-in-law.

Shoot, I even like my ex-husband's second wife's mother!

I went with one but she doesn't really do much wrenching. She would if I wanted to take the time to teach her but then what would I do?

The deal I had, with my ex girlfriend, was I would show her
once, how to fix or maintain her bike.

After that she did it all herself.

She replaced the kickstart return spring in her KZ400 2 or 3 times by herself, and did all her own oil changes, etc.

About a year after we broke up, I helped her shop for a new(er) bike and she bought a 750 Shadow. First thing she did was replace the valve cover gaskets, herself.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I do the greasey work but she rides and cleans/ details her own bike. She would have no problem workin on her own bike, but it's only a year old and doesn't really need to be worked on. Sometimes we ride two-up, she's doin so good on her own.

How does she get you on the back? the only time John even considered riding two up with me is when his bike broke... and even then it was under duress and if we even thought we saw someone we knew in those 3 blocks... he ducked...

Gee... guess I should have looked at the date on this one...

Luckily for me, my girlfriend loves it and will go on rides with me whenever possible. We hope to attend the gathering in VT when it FINALLY warms up. She just wants me to put a backrest on it for her. Can't say I blame her.

Took me two years of trying to get her used to the idea of gettin' one. The third year just bought one anyways. Took another 3 years for her just to go for a 10 min ride - it was under 70km's & made it act like an automatic. Don't know if she'll ever go for another ride. But she did buy me a new bandana last year to go under my helmet (blue flames even) So I think she is softening up to the idea. Oh but "everyone" in the family likes the idea that I don't drive the car once I start to ride (anytime in April) as they can have the extra vehicle.(Have kids with licences) I take it to work everyday & everywhere else I can. I'm even asked in the morning during a thunder storm before I leave "is Dad taking his bike today" & the required family ansewer is "yes" & away I go. And when I go on a trip they give me a cell phone & worry & are amazed how I made it there & back on the "old bike". So not sure where I stand in the poll - family thinks is crazy "old bike covered in black leather with chrome studs & skulls" but all glad I put 10K on it last year instead of the car. Oh, & they get mad if I have to part it waiting for parts. So life is pretty funny - they hate the bike & love it too. I guess I win in the end cause I'd ride it the same whether I have a car or not. - Dan

Usually when a bike is tied upright on the lift. Then it's like a big sex toy, the clothes start comin off and we pretend to be goin over alot of bumps. Yeah, I like ridin on the back...

Well, Ii have been married 34+ years. SWMBO uses to ride pillion, including a ride from Wisconsin to Colorado and back. In those days the bike was more reliable than the cars we had.

Over the years she lost interest in riding, particularly after the kids were born. She doesn't mind me riding, though she worries about it, and we recently decided to buy a 2nd bike. (Pick it up this Saturday, if I am lucky.)

I also snowmobile a 4-wheel, two other things she is not interested in but lets me play. She's a great lady.

On the other hand, she does a lot of work for dog and cat rescue groups, and I occasionally help driving / delivery and picking up supplies. Each of us has our own interests, which we can both pursue within limits of our budget and time.

So another entry might be She used to ride, but now has other interests.

"Fine with it 'til it starts to cost too much or doesn't see me anymore" more kind of she knows I'll ride no matter what she says so she doesn't say much. She likes to ride, we'll make trips once in a while but not often, small children make that difficult. She gets mad when I spend money and time working on it. Both my children love riding, my son (7 yrs old) always asks if we can ride the bike here or there, and my daughter (16 months) got to sit on the bike with dad for the first time last weekend, she just thought it was awesome! She threw a fit when we took her off.

My wife can type with all ten fingers while talking on the phone in both official languages but she can't drive a car with three pedals so there's no hope of her ever riding a bike. She don't like riding pillion neither. Says if she wanted to sit like that she'd go see her gynecologist. So I used to go to bike rallies on my lonesome. Then after a 40 year layoff I hung a sidecar on my bike. Sitting in the sidecar she'll go biking with me anytime.

                              2 out of 3

Pretty much hates bikes and the time I spend with them. Wasn't too impressed the affair idea either, but thought I would ask anyway.
