      It's a misnomer....

      It actually means...

      She Who Might Be Obeyed...

      and implies...
      but probably won't...

I have been accused (as i am sure alot of men have) of having selective hearing. That alone leaves alot of gray area.

          I have been accused

          It actually means...

          Yup, been there...
But that's because you interpret what I said, not what I meant.
And since I get different reactions to what I say I reserve the right to change what I meant as circumstances may change and your reaction to what I meant may not be what I mean now nor what I meant to mean.

Okay... I'd rather not think so... but then I look around and realize how frikkin true it is...

Just to make things fun, ....sometimes I mean what I say

                    Picking up after the kids
Before doing so I use to ask the girls nicely to put their stuff away, when that failed would ask one more time. (One of the few "standing orders" for my live in house keeper was she was not to clean their rooms or pick up after the girls)

After they went to bed I'd walk thru the house with a large garbage bag and pick there stuff up then put in my closet for "safe keeping". Only took em a couple weeks to learn not to leave anything out of place if they did not want to loose it for awhile

HA MRO, I had to laugh at your picking up stuff and putting it in a bag. I did that same thing with my 5 year old son. I told him to pick up his toys or they would go in the trash. He didn't, they did. It only took one time. Now all I have to do is threaten to throw the toys out and he picks them up fast.

He even told his three year old sister she better do it because Daddy wasn't joking.....

I did eventually return the toys. I mean I paid for 'em after all...

                              "she who must bend over"

                              Hi Paul,
your's is the short form of "she who must bend over backwards to put up with him and his effin' bikes"
However, SWMBO (She who must be obeyed) as a description of a domineering wife was popularized by John Mortimer's "Rumpole of the Bailey" novels and the TV shows which were made of them. But where did the thing originate? In H. Rider Haggard's 1890s adventure novel "She"
"She who must be obeyed" was the royal title of Ayesha, the blonde, beautiful & immortal queen of a mysterious African tribe.
