Just put a new (used)engine in my 79F, and I decided to use the K+N pods I had laying around. I had a stumble off idle, which usually means lean idle mixture. Today, I dug out the ol' colortune, and verified a lean condition at idle, so I ran those idle mixture screws out until slightly rich as viewed thru the colortune. I went to a nearby parking lot and gave it the low speed, stop and go test. Wow, what a difference. No stumble, smooth idle, and powerful launch, even with the taller 750FD. These pod filters definitely need a rich idle mixture to get off the line fast and smooth.
