That's the real thing, Dan. I was watching for it to come up, pulled over, and took a couple of shots. I also pulled ahead and got a couple with it sitting at 00000.0! Of course, being metric, it is not quite the same as E.Liberty's about to turn over 99,000.9 miles, but it still looks good.

                      HD back from shop

Yep. I thought it was kind of funny & believeable too, 'specially the part about it being in the shop. That has not been too often, as I do routine maintenance myself. The stator went out at 100,000 miles in Oklahoma, but I made it home, Many folks are good abount letting you hook up your jumper cables to their car battery when you are stuck in their way at the gas pumps.
New timing chain & tensioners at 75,000 with no related break down.
Not much complaint about this bike though, never trailered, since delivery at the dealer. It tours & cruises well, but if that kick in the pants YeeHaw!! XSive acceleration is what you yearn for, forget it. It is just not there. (but the back tires last longer.)

The "unlimited mileage" extended warrenty got me a complete new clutch assembly today. Basket hub, friction discs & steel discs. (no coil springs, this design is like a small automotive clutch spring). mileage was 124165. The hub basket had some small groves worn into the fingers between the slots so the clutch did not completely disengage. Readjusting the clutch at screw with locknut (similar to XS1100) would help for a day or 2. All this made trip up into New Brunswick and Nova Scotia a bit more interesting. I either adjusted it in the evening or better still in the early morning light. By getting an early start, I got it done before the former XS11 VPs were ready. Probably adjusted it in 3 states and 2 provinces, I am not sure.

Blessed are they who think hell is being at the helm of a Harley, for they have led a sheltered life.

Riding my HD 100,000 miles, plus a certified Iron But saddle sore 1000, plus 30 miles on pillion, riding south as far as key west, north to Port Ontrio NY, Savannah GA, San francisco & Tillamook Oregon, crossing mountains, deserts, lakes, & rivers (a few without bridges) did NOT prepare me for a week long 'vacation" witch included my daughter in law.

"Hell is being at the helm of a hardley" LMAO not even close. I hope y'all never find anything worse than that.

They really are sticking to that unlimited warranty. I was pretty sure that they would find some holes out of it. Did you get the 7 year one? I didn't even know they had one that long till we met a guy with an HD on the Lake Champlain ferry. Sure is different than my 90 FLHS was.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                          I've been riding since 1959.

                            Hi ole biker,
Mitch remembers right. My bike is a Firefighters special edition, and I like it partly just for that. Yes, a 7 year warrenty. Yes a big hole in it - low compression is not covered. Other stuff brakes and rotors. Rotors wear down adfter about 3 sets of pads. normal wear and cosmetic stuff excluded. My starter button now reads " ART" The hand grips wore through. I replaced them with $10 like new takeoffs. I guess some guys over heat motors idling and burnouts etc. I can almost see why they would want to exclude something like that.

XScontent. If you can use nearly new stock HD parts on your bike many can be had for very little $. Mufflers are often carried off by the scrap metal man. I have seen several styles fitted to XS11s. If you need a tire on a holiday, look in the throw out pile behind most HD dealers. 02 & earlier road kings & electraglides use 130/90 16 rear same as an XS1100Special Often, decent tires can be found there.
The HD dunlop 402 looks like a k491 with HD logo added.

                                Who cares? (threadjack)

I've ridden Jap bikes, German bikes, Brit bikes, HD bikes, Spanish bikes and Italian bikes.

Riding is riding. Ripping on someone because of where their bike came from is just dumb.

Good on you Brent, you're like frikkin "Where is Waldo." I see your mug in almost every rally picture here.
