Well now... I never really looked at the choices to vote on too well..

I like the one that says "Beat his a@@ and take his bike".... but I wasn't thinking about anything having to do with racing him! lmao... Unfortunately.. that may get the cops involved...

So... just beat his a@@!! lmao!

I love Harley's, as a matter of fact I love all motorcycles. If you have read any of my post's, I stick up for the Bikes all the time. But like you said the guy is a butt hole. He comes blasting down the street at all hours of the morning.
I guess that I am just blowing steam and maybe I don't have enough balls to talk and ask him to settle down. Calling the cops would be the absolute last resort thing after a talk. I know a neighbor called the cops and his rear tire was flat the next morning...
And truthfully I was acting like an ass yesterday. I guess that we all live in glass houses. Peace and keep the rubber side down
If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself..

There were once a bunch of kids that used to like to hang out on these park benches behind an apartment building I lived in. They made all kind of noise and basically made our peaceful afternoons not so peaceful. I could of confronted them and ended up in a yelling match and ended up with a lot of vandalism going on I'm sure, but that seamed like to much trouble. So one night I emptied a bucket of wheel bearing grease all over the park benches. They never hung out there any more. Problem solved. So sneek in his garage with some bearing grease and everthing should be fine.

As far as I am aware the 1st factory Hardley that can run the quarter as fast as a 30 year old XS11 is the new for 2008 1125R. It is a Buell with a Rotax (Austrian) engine. The XB12 Lightning runs a 12.4 per Motorcycle News (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bi.../?&R=EPI-91839), and I believe that Cycle Magazine clocked an XS11 @ 11.8 back in the day.

That said the rider makes a huge difference in the times a bike can run. The magazines usually use pro riders that an "average Joe" is not going to keep up with. Even when they use their own staff they often have racing expirience, and spend more time in the saddle than most. Plus with the slight differences in these times two bikes off the same assembly line could differ more when brand new.

I seem to be argueing with myself. I will continue this in my own head just in case I lose the fight

Oh yeah, I like the lawn ornament idea

Beat him proper at the track so there's no excuses and then frame the results print out and give it to him.
Don't take his bike .. that would be like taking his personality away from him and he would be lost forever ...

              Hmmmm ...

I think it's basically OK to pick at Harleys and their posers ... uhhh .... I mean riders. I think Carolyn, Rob and a few others have got it right. While these bikes are aurguably beautiful to look at and have a few other strong points, I think owning one is more about about a desire to belong to something ... a group ... something larger than one individual. I believe that is the dynamic in play here. A basic human need ... the need to belong.

I also think the whole Harly scene is less about motorcycling and much more about the 'posing'. Otherwise, why the Harley shirt, the Harley hat, the Harley U-trou, and on and on ad nauseum? I have actually had one of my best friends, a former metric bike racer and skilled Harley rider tell me once, "Now that I'm a biker, I'm s'posed to be rude" .... astonished, I just shook my head. Scott is currently looking to find a motorcycle gang to join .... but he hates tweekers so I think he's gonna' have a hard time findin' one ... what do you all think?

Those are the ones that look stupid to me, the Harley posers. I have more respect for the guy with an old dirty rusty bike than the guy with a $30,000 chopper. There are a couple of old biker guys at one of the jobs I go to. I talk to them about old bikes; Triumphs, Suzuki, BSA, Harley, Yamaha.....; they've ridden and owned just about every brand out there. One of them had a XS650 and his brother had a XS11. They don't wear all the Harley shirts, hats, etc but you can just tell they ride. Those are the real bikers.

I've ridden a couple of Harleys... and they were okay... and I love the look of Vince's wife's Nightster... drooled over it the whole time I was around it... I just get tired of the mentality that goes along with them a lot of times...
and if someone were to give me a NightRod... I wouldn't turn it down...

That artical GNEPIG posted... If they want a sport bike... why not just build it instead of having to buy someone else's company??

They'll probably screw that up and try to put a "High performance" V twin in it. Hopefully they won't micromanage the thing to death and let them keep on...

I just don't see how they can do this and keep their "American built" thing and non-sportbike image at the same time?

I'm pretty sure a stock V-ROD runs mid-low 11's thru the quarter. With a big bore kit (which many XS's have) they can run in the 10's. I've been outrun by a Harley Bagger....pulled up to the next stop light and read the S&S on the side of the motor. The way I figure it if someone is willing to spend $20k on a bike, they may be willing to spend $5-10k on the motor. Our bikes will take most Harleys but don't be surprised if you get your @$$ handed to you by one of these "pieces of crap".

GNEPIG, you can throw your 2-cents in here about the VROD anytime.....

                          Do yer homework!

Like I have said before, nothing wrong with a Harley or any other machine. Most are all well engineered and many are just as well cared for and cherished as our beloved 11's. It all depends on what you want and nothing more. If you are happy wearing all your HD regalia and potato potato-ing down to the local watering hole on Wednesday night to have a beer with others like yourself then, I say go for it. Its just not for me. As far as the loud and obnoxious pipes, personally I think it is stupid since nothing sounds more unhormonious and out of sync than a two lung motor that fires at 120 degrees and then 240 degrees of crank rotation. But, that is a personal choice too. Its just not for me.

I learned a long time ago when I was racing....you may have it today but, there is always someone quicker and faster. One thing is for sure, do your homework before you race for pinks or before going down the street for an A$$ kicking contest. I had a 66 Dodge Coronet 500 that looked like something my granny would drive. Under the lid was a 426 HEMI. I won alot of money from people that did'nt do their homework. So, his pipes may sound like c%@p but........he may be a Golden Gloves Champ with a 10 secong two lunger.

Crap.. I just bought a used Harley. I guess I need to go down to the local dealer and stock up on Harley shirts, mugs, license plate frames, stickers, hats etc..etc.. Oh and can't forget the leather vest!

Ok before I get a bunch of grief it is a 68 HD M-65. It is an Italian made 50cc scooter. I found it behind a local body shop that I work with. It's a long long term project as it has been sitting for at least 20 years.

I made decide to not keep it but for now I find it interesting. It's pretty rare which makes parts availablity a pain.

Maybe I will just buy a Yamaha scooter and swap out the motor. It would probably run better anyway.....
