  • Two Up and Running

Finally got both my XS' up and running thanks to the knowledge gained by this site.
The older of the two (to me) registered as a 78E is a mix match of parts from several bikes. The frame has a 78 serial # and such is registered, it has many parts from 78 through 82. It has been running for the last 3 summers with several issues that I seem to have rectified. The special is all 80 thanks to Andreas and his parts supply, except for the exhaust which is after market, ( I have the original rust riddled in the shed). I know the original owner or the 80SG but did not buy it from him, the guy I bought it from hit a bear several years ago and left it sitting in his garage not quite knowing what to do with it. Picked it up for $400 and fiddled with it for a year or so and finally got it on the road. I have two sons that both are learning to ride and this past weekend I put the 80 on the road and we went for a ride together.

      A new meaning...

To 'meet the twins'-the same but just different enough from each other to warrant another look!-I like this meaning better!!

They look great! Good job. It must be a great feeling to see your work pay off and be able to go for a ride with one of your favorite people in the whole world. Life is good.

Excellent job on your bikes. They both look great.

Since I got my SG up and running, I've been too busy riding it to think about diving in and completing my SG. The SG is not kept at my house. I keep it at my friend's house over in Maine which is a 40 min drive away since he has a large shed.

If I had it here, I'd probably have that up and running too.

Same as you, I would like my son to be able to ride it when he is home on leave from the Marine Corps.

          Stay safe,

          Don

            Fabulous

Mighty fine looking twins you got there. This a good testimony to those who are downhearted about the troubles they have getting one bike up and running. I alway said biking is one of the best family sports there is!!!

              Thanks for the nice replies,
My oldest son (19) and I pulled into the local gas station just before our ride on Sunday and there were a bunch of guys on hogs parked off to one side. As we were filling two of them came over and took a real good look. They liked what they saw and one of them said "isn't there a site on the net devoted just to these bikes" and I said yes and I belong to it and said what a great resource it was for parts and knowledge, cudo's to all.
