After 2 years the oversized (stripped threads)oil plug I put in from Napa wont tighten unless I remove rubber gasket In which I did now I have a good oil leak from the plug with a not so oh tight oil plug
So Im gonna bite the bullet and replace the Oil pan

Question is Does anyone know if all the oil pans of the XS1100 are the same size
or are they year /model specific Im looking at grabbing one off of ebay I have a 80 special and the pan is off a 79 They dont know what model the pan came from

    hope someone can help
    thanks in Advance

Any oil pan from the XS XJ 1100 will work. The XJ will have an extra goodie in them...it's an oil level indicator switch, but the switch will not work on an XS, because we don't have that ability.

Usually doesn't work worth a crap in an XJ either!

          Ljay40:

In the meanwhile why don't you wrap the threads with that plumbers vinyl thread tape, it will help seize the threads and seal the oil leak. This way while waiting for a replacement, you can ride the wind.

All the XS11s use the same oil pan. Same size, same gasket. As noted, the XJ pan will also fit, but uses an oil level sensor that is not present in the XS11 pans.
