The place I worked at five years ago sells that crap.
Man, I'm glad I got out of there!

""The vehicle (diamo velux scooter) has: an unsafe wind profile: the bike is dangerously susceptible to even light winds. dangerous braking characteristics: extreme pressure is required to stop the bike even though it only weighs 300 pounds. emergency braking would not be possible under normal conditions. dangerous shock absorber design: even small changes in road smoothness will cause the bike to respond in unexpected ways. body compartment latch: the rear external compartment is prone to opening while driving creating a hazard for the driver. this is exacerbated by the shock absorber problem. windscreen: all diamo velux bikes (according to the distributor - ls motorsports) have a stain on the windshield caused by the wiper blade. this is distracting to the driver. handling characteristics: motorcyclists depend on agility. this bike is unstable in turns and exhibits a high degree of instability even when changing lanes. unpredictable starting acceleration: the automatic transmission on the bike is unpredictable in how much throttle is required to start the bike moving at the correct speed. NH&TSC at it again ?

Back in the late 70s and early 80s the National Highway and Traffic safety Commission built a safer bike, that almost killed three test riders, before they discovered rear wheel steering wouldn't work, and gave up, it looks like they finally found new jobs.

looks alot like the taxis in India. rode from my hotel in Raipur to the local mall with a guy I work with last October. the taxis have 3 wheels as opposed to 2 (with the traffic they have, 3 wheels isn't half enough giggle giggle) oddly enough, I never felt like I was going to get squashed or anything. it is good that they have only a canvass roof and no doors because it gets HOT over there. however, the more scooters (ugly or otherwise) that get on the streets here, the better chances are that all of us will be noticed whilst on the streets; and that hopefully will make us all safer. I see far too many news reports of bikers and riders having wrecks. to me, it doesn't matter so much how it happened, it's another biker down, never a good thing. see what I've done, I went off on a tangent and brought heavy thoughts into a light hearted thread...bad me. I'm out, have a nice day and ride safe .

                    "front and rear abs brakes"

Now that I like. The BMWs I've ridden with ABS are very nice.

And you mentioned that the top comes off, wonder if it would ride a little better without it, kinda like a scooter. Not saying that's much better...

This may not be the typical sort of scooter seen in use but there will be more and more scooters on the roads in the years to come. I am already seeing more of them on the seasonal roads in Ottawa.

trust me folks...with these gas prices....2 wheel vehicles will own the road....my dealership can't open the doors early enough....most people out there don't want to work on a bike, they just want 2 get on and ride.....i watched a guy get a new crotch rocket....i could tell he didn't know a thing about riding....peeled the new helmet outta the box.....and after the salesman show him how 2 start it (twice)....he stalled (twice)...then as he finally got it running and moving, almost ran into the side of the rebel devil....i had my foot up to kick him if i had 2.....wouldn't of been pretty, but ya gotta protect what ya got right.....just my 2 cents....ross

                          Lots more

I'm seeing lots more 2 wheel vehicles on the road. Even moped types and small scooters. People will do most anything to keep from riding the bus. The good part is there is lots less of those old cars carrying illegals with no driver's license or insurance. They can no longer afford to drive those old gas guzzlers, even with all those carpoolers on board. I figure that the good news is we are deffinately doing something about the air quality whether we like it or not.

if they do make the XS again, maybe with fuel injection and mileage around 50mpg.
