  • 30th Anniv. Patches choice poll

Since the 30 yr patch thread already existed, a POLL could not be created within it, so this was made for that purpose.

Please see THIS THREAD and reply for info about the sudden emergence of an alternative patch.

I too am on the fence. And would probably buy both. Basically, if it were me I would combine the 2 to have the lettering of the first, the bike of the second, and the 3 tuning forks.

Well this is interesting, and typical of the XS-11 site. Like the bikes, everyone has some ideas as to what is good and what is better.

We have rat bikes and shiny bikes and hi-mileage bikes and orphan bikes; we have Green ones and blue ones and red ones and flame ones and white ones and rusty ones; we have chopped ones and turbo-charged ones and bastardized ones and naked ones and faired ones and completely OEM ones. Everyone has or had an adoring owner at one time.

We have present owners and past owners and owners with newer bikes and owners with older bikes. There are owners who can argue the finer points of different 21st century bikes and replace an XS11 timing chain with eyes closed, and owners who still take their XS-11 to a dealer.

We have owners who ride a lot and some who ride a couple times per year, owner who think nothing of scraping pegs and owners who wear out the center of their tires first.

The fact is there is almost nothing typical on this site, not riders and not bikes, and that is what makes this site so nifty. A bunch of crazy individuals from many corners of the globe coming together for the sake of one thing - the XS-11 (and XJ, I know)

Now we have competing patches. Well both have merit, and IMHO I would lean towards the simpler patch since it looks like an affordable patch and the more colorful one would make a terrific book cover of say a collection of rally photos of the past 30 years, but frankly Wildkat beat you all to market so I vote to use her t-shirt and thong design for the patch.

              My $0.02.

I like something simpler and in between the 2. I think the bikes shape and appearance speak for itself, and it's no doubt a YAMAHA .. so just the detailed bike and 30th info is good. I changed the color of the front fork ear side markers to amber as is normal

                      i'm not on the fence

Well, I like the photgraphic patch...personally i was gonna buy 2 of the orig. design but in my mind i was dissapppointed in the lack of detail and color depicting the bike itself.I was not gonna complain abt it but it seems TC felt his idea would better suit the XS/XJ forum than the other. It's hard not to offend those who went to so much trouble in the first place..but apparently that is the case... At any rate I would take 2 of each design...

each patch has its own good qualitys
I would buy a couple of both

the silloulette on the first looks OK but i would like more detail
the 2nd patch has maybe too much detail
making it look a little cartoonish

i tend to wonder what it would look like after a year or two

but given the price range is the same
                            i would get both

lets not forget, it stand for the anniversory of the elevins

I don't understand the bent feelings on this. Some like one design, others like another. I think it's great that people took the time to make these up.. Thanks Guys. (And Gal) This isn't a contest and shouldn't be seen as one. (They like mine better than yours... Nya Nya) Options are good and I wish there were TEN more designs to chooose from!

Hard bags, soft bags, no bags... windshield, fairing, naked.... Black, maroon, blue, yellow, orange, green... chopped, bobbed, stock... If everyone liked the same exact thing, the bike world would be pretty boring wouldn't it?? (And dang hard to find your bike at a rally!)

TC, I think you should not worry about the poll numbers and go with the design you want to if you feel like taking the time to do so. I don't think it's important about who DOESN"T like the design. They'll order whichever they want. Again, I know you guys put a lot of time and work into these and thank you again for giving us options.
