    LoHo,
I'm in close to Jerry, as I've tried to change the cam chain, and it does NOT want to catch on the crank! I'll be working on it the rest of the week, so I hope to be ready. If not, I'll STILL go up, just in a car.
I DID check things after putting in the link, so I don't think I've done any damage. I have NOT turned the crank very far, and I DID loosen the cams BEFORE I tried, to give myself a little more clearance.

For you guys who are pulling the "no bike" dodge, here's an option:

      http://www.eaglerider.com/Rentals.aspx

I live in Fresno, so a guy could park his car at my house and get a lift over to pick up a bike. They have more than just Hardley, too.

Breaking news, I know have all the time I need to get the bike running. I think that's a good thing, at least for now.
Should be able to have ONE of my engines running and in before the rally.

          Can't Make the Rally

          LoHo:

Sorry, something came up and I have to be out of town on the 14th so I won't be able to make the Yosemite Rally. Hope you guys have a great time and the weather is better this year. I'll look forward to next year!

                Riding from San Diego

                Hey Mike,

If you have a group of two (or three) coming up from San Diego, would you mind if I tag along? I live in Costa Mesa (just off the 405 freeway) I'd be happy to have someone to ride with. I made the trip solo last August (SWMBO following in car) and it was less fun.

You can contact me by e-mail: REFFI@aol.com

                  Fathers Day!

Hey, I just put 2 & 2 together and realised that next Sunday is Fathers Day. Leverage! What does Daddy want for Fathers Day? I'm pretty sure I can make it.
REFFI, If you were to come up the coast you could ride over with Diverray and me on Friday. 'course that would mean having to ride through Big Sur. Darn!

P.S. I'm sue this was probably mentioned somewhere, but I haven't been following every post.
Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                  I've been riding since 1959.

Ed, that's a really long day in the saddle for these old bones and I don't know if I'm up to it. My experience has been that if it's a long ride to get somewhere, I have no inclination to get back on the bike the next day 'cause I'm plumb tuckered. I've been trying to ride to build up my stamina, but stuff just seems to get in the way. I wanted to do the California National Parks tour this year, but here it is June and Yosemite will be my first.

If you guys plan a coast ride later this summer, I'd be up for it.

                      Ready, I think...

After several days of working on the bike to be sure everyting is perfect for the trip, I think I am finally ready. I plan on leaving early Fri and get to Midpines and check into the motel then find the KOA campground so I can meet some of the pack as they arrive. I would like to know if anyone has an address or directions to the campground from Midpines? I'm thinking I could be there as early as 1 pm.....

The KOA is well marked, and is 6 miles north/east of Mariposa on 140. The motel is a few miles farther north/east on 140. We'll probably get in around 3:00 and set up headquarters. My cell is 559-288-1823, if anyone needs it, and if I remember to bring it.

                          Planedick,

What time are you leaving? I'm figuring six hours plus stops from Costa Mesa. The San Diego contingent is planning on Costa Mesa by 8:30 - 9:00.

                              Long gone

Ralph, by that time I will probably be in Bakersfield. I will be outa town before daybreak and after the grapevine I will be doing a much more leisurely pace and maybe even exploring some of that mountain terrain between here and there.

OK, I'm staying at the motel, too. I'll see you there, or at the KOA. I'll be the fat guy on the BMW.
