Not that anyone cares but I can't sleep and I'm bored. Here's why my screen name is Da-Bubble.

First car = 1971 Olds Cutlass 'S' 455 Big Block.

In high school all cool cars had to have a nickname.

Oldsmobile = Olds-mo-bubble

The Bubble for short = Dabubble.

Stupid crap like that sticks forever!

This is my first car which I still have and will hopefully be restoring after I graduate in May 2008. Used to be a nice driver but after 12 years it needs a total resto.

Around here that would have been an Oldsmabuggy. Went with:

SS Novatron (Nova SS)
Snake (Mustang Cobra)
Bug, Vee-Dub, Punch Buggy (VW Beetle)

Derwat has a '68 Buick Skylark Convertible, somewhat similar to yours there, and an '88 BMW 750iL, V-12.

Another friend had a 70 HO455 Buick, his nieces were burning garbage in a barrel at the farm one day, caught the grass on fire and burnt the buick to the firewall.

My uncle was given a 69 Cutlass Convertible as a work car in 1969 and still has it.

Another uncle had a 69 Buick LeSabre. His kid stole it (mid 1980s)one day and ran a roadblock before hitting the ditch with 4 flat tires.

The buddy of mine (with the XS750) has a number of neat cars: an acid dipped John Lingenfelter prepared superstock '68 Nova SS, 2 '70 W30 Challengers, and a '71 Barracuda. He sold his '68 Camaro, and he has a '67 Corvette all apart in storage. On another friend's farm, he has an 840hp Vega, and a 1953 Oldsmobile with a full Supercomp chassis in it.

'70 Roadrunner, 440. aka, Road chicken. Ex wife called it the money pit. Of the two I no longer have, I would take the car back in a heartbeat. Still have my "75 Power Wagon I bought new. It is sometimes referred to as the "casket". Why? She says cause it looks like she will bury me in it.

I am glad you did not sell it. I had a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 back in high school. Very beautiful car and fast. Sold it back in 1980 because I could not afford gas for it even though gas at the time was $.75 a gallon. I kick my a$$ every day thinking about how cheep I let it go for.

Yeah everyone I know regrets selling their first car. My Dad's was a 1957 Chevy Bel Air and Mom's was a 1966 Chevelle. Those two cars in pristine condition would sell at Barrett Jackson for more than my house! I figure the bubble doesn't cost a dime (yet) and once it's restored it'll only appreciate in value. Not that I will EVER sell it. Too many memories!

Well, he hijacked a taxi, at gunpoint ( he was 14 at the time), a few weeks later, ended up on probation for a bit, then died, of an overdose, when that pure china white heroin hit the streets in Seattle several years later.

On another note, I tapped a curb with my front-wheel drive two weeks ago and it's still in the shop so it looks like I am going to be driving the 'Full-monte' for a bit. I don't usually drive it in the winter, 500hp is fun in the snow, but I don't really have much choice.

My first GOOD car was a 69 Cutlass with a 350. I wish I still had it. I do have a perfect rendition of it from Revell though....

Aaaaahhhhhh......time to kick myself again! I started out in several "beater" cars and trucks, but the one I wish I woulda kept was a 65 Mustang fastback 2+2 with a Hi-Po 289.

Put one them into 2 parked car 1 hr after i paid for it on a sheet of ice . They did not like ice.

Mine was a 78 z28. I wasted a good chunk of my teenage years working on that car to make it the way I wanted it. Fast and obnoxious. It got to a point though in my early twenties where I just didn't have a place to work on it and keep it so it had to go.

I regretted it for years. Back then filling it up was fun. It gave me a chance to get out of the car and admire it. But now the site of gas stations make me sick. Between the cost of the gas and the realization of whos pockets my money is going into I can't imagine driving a car like that again. That's what lead me to bikes. I can be obnoxious and fast and still get 30 mpg.

The fastbacks are really worth a lot nowadays. Here's the wife's '66 coupe. It's not the Hi-po, just the 2 barrel 289, auto, pwr steering and disc brakes. Oh and a floor console. Pretty highly optioned for 1966! We bought it from a family friend in Florida who had owned it for 20 yrs. We flew to Tallahassee and drove it home to OKC. What a roadtrip!!!
