maybe I shoulda' got a Harley, eh? .... then there'd be girls hangin' all over me, wouldn't there? [/B][/QUOTE]

Not necessirily. I have carried far more girls on my XS1100 than on my Harley. (I got married about a week after I got a harley, but it had been scheduled for a long time.)

I agree with Fredintoon about side cars. Women who would not ride on a dangerous motorcycle often do not hesitate to ride in a side car. I guess it looks 'safe' to them.

Another attraction - Seat covers - I put a sheepskin on the Yamaha seat for long distance riding. More than one girl in Daytona @ bike week inquired " is it as warm and comfortable as it looks?" I thoughtfully passed my oppertunity to offer free demonstration. The beaded seat cover for summer has not sparked the interest a the warm cuddly looking one has.

Skip all the harley logo jackets etc. Many women are tired of pretend posers, some of whom do not own a bike. Once I was approached in a drug store and asked by one "So. Where is your harley?" I just pointed out the window to the parking lot and let it go.

More girls riding bikes have talked to me and seemed interested while I was riding my Yamaha.

Once whiole waiting for a dental appointment, One wanted to ride with me on my Yamaha then objected after seeing it and said it would need to be washed first...white leather...etc. That was a close call, but she did not wash it and I got away.

The XS1100 is certainly not inferioir for picking up girls. In fact the load carrying capacity would alow for 2 average size. Most Harleys-only one.

Good luck in your quest. Go forth with confidence.

      Sidecars ARE safer

"Women who would not ride on a dangerous motorcycle often do not hesitate to ride in a side car. I guess it looks 'safe' to them."

      Hi Brent,
sidecars truly are safer, they can't fall over for one thing and they work great on gravel roads while riding gravel roads solo gives me sphincter tightening problems. Back when there were enough sidecars in the UK to get meaningful statistics from the accident records you got a 50% insurance discount for having one on your bike and if those hard-hearted bastards would give you a break you know the safety factor is true.

I wave to everyone - including every copper I see. If they don't wave back and I'm having a growly day they may then get the finger - although probably not the coppers
