The intrepid rider found himself singing as he rode along "You see I've been through the desert on an XS with no name (or left side cover), it felt good to get out of the rain."

Through the desolation of the area he was riding, he had plenty of time to think about things. He had just brushed off two beautiful women with one that was nearly throwing herself at him. Now he was happily riding along singing America songs!?! "WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?!", he shouts to the wind. The impact of it all hits him tremendously and he pulls his bike to the shoulder to a stop, sets it on the sidestand, dismounts and screams to the emptiness... "MY GOD.... AM I GAY?!?"
Just then, a car drives by with a slender man waving and blowing kisses to him. He raises his helmet and vomits. "Nope", he says. "Guess not."
He shakes his head and wonders if he's getting a bit of heat stroke. He mounts back up and continues on to the "Left" coast.Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

Deciding that when he gets home he should probably join a homophobia support group to learn to be more tolerant of other peoples' differences... the Yamaha rider presses onward, enjoying the solitude of the open road. He will however, need to stop in the next town and find a laundry mat so that he can wash his pants after a very near miss with a suicidal jackrabbit...81 SH Something Special

The XS11's steady cruise West on the 509 out of San Mateo leaves the rider time to reflect on the cost of a moment's inattention. Stopping at a cheap motel to strip, shower, change, wad his soiled clothing in the motel's wastebasket liner and feed fistfuls of quarters into the motel's washer & dryer to catch up on the rest of his dirty clothing had taken until suppertime. The surprisingly good steak, mushrooms & fries at the small diner across the road led to sunset and the thought that the room is paid for anyway and an early night. Hoping that the diner's morning chef was as good as the evening one, he stopped in there for breakfast. Good cheese omelette and better coffee set him in a good mood to gas up the bike, fill the reserve jerrycan and roll west.
"Where next?" he thought. "Not the 40 for sure. I'll keep poking west on these back roads until I hit 666, gotta ride that road just because of the number - - -Fred Hill, S'toon
