  • New Used bike coming

Well it looks like I have hammered out a deal with the lad down the street to acquire a 1982 Katana that is running and complete.
I have wanted this bike for at least 18 months and will now receive it this winter )

Well I don't have the bike yet ... but i have seen it as he rides it up for a fast visit from time to time but is not using it much. It have a custom Vance's & Hindes 4 into 1 header on it and everything is there and working. It would of course need a going over but nothing like my 11 needed. I will post some photos once I have the bike :-)

Well it's only 750 cc and somewhat lighter so it will be a good around town ride so I don't have to use my restored 79 11. I really don't like using that bike day in and day out so to speak. I will of course restore the Katana as well because they are pretty rare around these parts and it's something different to toy with.

              Drooool.

If it was me, I'd pick up that 81 GS1100E on usedottawa.com right now and shoehorn that motor straight in.

I was thinking of snapping it up for $850, but it's pretty much the same bike as I have right now. I know none of you guys would have more than one of the same bike, now would you......

BTW, the picture doesn't show the windscreen on the Katana.

I'd have thought you might have been interested in this one:

              http://www.usedottawa.com/classified...es-over-1000cc

$500 for an XS project that the guy has lost interest in.

I can certainly understand that you wouldn't want to do any more wrenching after last year though.

Well I already have my 78 XS11 that will go together this winter as a hopped to the T*ts bike so another hop up project just isn't in the budget at this point in time. I will be picking up the complete running 750 Katana with the custom made and tuned 4 into 1 pipe for $1000.00 He will let me have it for that price cause he knows it will be going to a good home :-)
Yes your right about the photo it does not show the wind shield but it may not even be the North American Model. They made those Katana's from 250 cc and up. They are neat bikes and i remember clearly when I saw the first one in 1980. It should prove to be a neat toy to add to the garage.

Here's a better pic of the bike when new

He wants me to have it cause he has seen what I have done with my 79 11 However no dollars have changes hands yet as he needs to "get into the right frame of mind" to let it go. But he is not using it at all ... it's just sitting which is a shame.

That thing sure has nice lines. I was never very keen on them but I like the look of that. I hope you get it, maybe next summer we will get a look at it.

The first one I saw was the 1100 version but they are very very rare at this point in time. It is a look that grows on you that's for sure. When they first appeared they were radical to say the least. It was in and around 1982 that biking popularity took a nose dive and many bikes of the day were put into garages, barns etc and not used again. The Katana having been only 2 years out of it's release at the time was therefore not sold in Hugh numbers like the bikes released in the late 70s.
The thing to do now id come up with the 1000 soon while he has parting with it on his mind. If I do manage to acquire it I will for sure be using it this spring as my around town ride and restore it the following winter. The real question is .. where to hide it as many already think I'm out of my mind lol lol lol ... They just don't get it ...

                              The Katana has arrived :-)

So here's some pics of the new toy :-) WOW it feels weird to sit on and feels heavy for a 750. The color of this version is different then seen in photos of the bike from the Internet but she all there and in reasonable condition.
