• Bike Photos Pool/Great bands

Hey folks. If you haven't noticed, the Bike Photos thread has grown extremely large. It's a little hard to navigate if you're looking for a photo that was posted way back when. This gave me the idea to set up a photo pool group on Flickr where everyone could post their XSive photos. I got the OK from TC to post this here:

    http://www.flickr.com/groups/yamaha_xs-xj11/

Now I know that a lot of you use photobucket and this is not a request to ask you to switch, but I looked into photobucket and they don't have a groups feature like Flickr does. A few other reasons to try this out:

You retain control over how your images are used Photobucket doesn't claim ownership of your photos when you upload them, but their terms of service give them the right to re-publish, sublicense, and create derivative works of your contributions. Supposedly this ends when you terminate your relationship with the service, but if they've sub-licensed or created derivitive works from your photos how would you know where these end up and enforce your copyright?
Flickr gives you control over licensing On Flickr, you have the option of setting your level of control. You can declare full copy right or use any of the several creative commons licenses. You can also change your license at any time. Flickr is part of Yahoo! and their terms of service restrict their use of your contributions to your original intentions as an uploader. This also brings the next point...
You may already have a Flickr account If you were a member back in the mailing list days, you already have a Yahoo! account, which means you're already registered to use Flickr.
So I hope you check it out. The groups feature has a small discussion area, but I'm not looking to replace the forums. Discussion there should only be for discussing photo submissions. Let me know, for your conideration.

      Awesome quote Malber71

I don't know if its an age thing, or nobody has good taste in music, but not many people know about Rush, much less quote the great lyrics by Neil Peart.

"At the one lane bridge, I leave the giants stranded at the riverside.
Race back to the farm, to be with my uncle at the fireside."

      The Red Barchetta

Thanks Mal, now I gotta re-load up a bunch of Rush onto my MP3 player!

"Life is not a journey to the grave, with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body; but rather to skid on broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming:

It's a great riding tune. Peart wrote it before he starting riding motorcycles. It was inspired by a short story he had read in an automotive magazine. Some of his more recent songs seem to be inspired by riding (from "Far Cry": "One day I ride through a crack in the sky and the next it's falling in on me.") I'd like to think that if he ever did another sci-fi inspired story song that motorcycling might be incorporated into it.

I could see this song re-done as a short film but with a bike instead of a Ferarri. Instead of a "motor law" it could be a law prohibiting motorcycles. Bet the AMA or ABATE would fund a project like that :-)

Oh and on the pic: when I saw that sign all I could think about was that song. Great twisty road right after that bridge!

Hopefully soon, when the new site comes on line, this will be a thing of the past as we'll have a member gallery in which to post our pictures in. There should be enough room for everyone to post 10 or so 640x480 pictures each. (500k of space each, more if JP determines we can make more room)

            Stay tuned!!

Rush is only second to Led Zeppelin to me as best band of all time. Though I go back and forth often....so hard to choose!

Peart's books are ok, but kinda dry. I still need to read his latest. Like so many other things....one of these days!

There really is a town called Black Oak Ark. I went there in 77 when I was stationed in Memphis when I was in the Navy.

I have to agree with Skippy on this one. Maybe it's the time frame I grew up in.. like many. Rush 2112 is right up there near the top for me.

Don't call me a communist... but Zeppelin... Robert Plant to me is like someone scratching nails down a chalkboard. It just sounds like a kid whining and crying. The kid on the floor.... kicking his hands and feet in a tantrum...and that scream.. wailing right to the top note before the fake tears fall... right there at that moment is what Plant sounds like to me.. lol.
