  • 1955 Buick need help... anyone

I am currently working on a 55 Buick special. I feel like an idiot but i can't seem to locate a master cylinder for the brakes.

If anyone knows where it is it would be a huge help to me.

    Thanks
    Kurt

I've got pics if anyone wants to see her!

Have you looked under the floorboard on the drivers' side?

No, but I will. I kind of thought it might be there but havn't been able to get it into the garage yet today.

I feel really stupid for not knowing this. I got the car running over the course of the last week, and now I can't find the m.c. GRRRRRR!!!

        Try:
        http://www.kanter.com
For rebuilding or getting a rebuilt:
        http://www.applehydraulics.com/brakes.htm
Another source for parts may be:
        http://www.automobilearchives.com/bu...20page%201.htm
(I didn't look through all the parts, you may have to call hte number listed or e-mail them.)

Don't know what years are compatible, there is a 1953 Buick 50 - 70 master cylinder on sale through eBay. Link doesn't cut and paste well, do a search on "Buick master cylinder" and you should find that listing.

Hope these leads help. FWIW, I use www.dogpile.com for a search engine, typed in "1955 Buick master cylinder" and found these and other links.

Thanks I found it. It was under the drivers side. Thankfully the plug is still intact and theres no rust there... or anywhere really.

              WOW!!!

That is one fine ride!! It only looks a couple of years old.

I bet it turns a head or two going down the street.

Now that I re-read the original post, I feel dumb. You asked where to find 'a' master cyl ....... not 'the' mast cyl.
                Sorry

I was gonna tell him to start at the wheel, and follow the brake line back...

I once had a 54 and a 55, both specials. 54 with manual trans, 55 with dynaflow. Specials had the 264 C U engine. Very economical for it's day. Love the looks of the straight up and down valve covers.

Shes got the Dynaflow matched up to a 322 fireball V-8. apparently they were 200 hp stock.
