I knew this would happen. I'm still painting my $60 gem. Now I may park it on the rainy / foggy days and register my truck and drive it so the bike will stay clean. Since I got the bike going Ive ridden it or the XL250R to work daily. Wife did the same with her XS750F. Guess this year I will miss the chattering teeth. (Hell with it, it's just a rattle can paint job)

This was a dismal year for me. I started painting my house (1&2/2 story) in late may and got everything except the trim boards done the last week in Sept. I could have continued to finish the trim, but I knew that If I picked up another paintbrush or roller I would go stark raving mad, mad, mad!! From 8 in the morning until 8 or 9 at night, and a hour to clean everything up. During that time I got on the bike to go to Lowe's or home Depot for supplies.
It was depressing. Next year I will try to get the trim done, some of which needs to be replaced, in less than a month. Then I will try to make up what I lost this year. We can't go for more than two days, as we have cats and it is expensive to hire a sitter and difficult to find a neighbor that is any good around cats. The last one was chased out of the house by the 11 lb. male on the second day. So, there you are and here I am and that's the show. (George Gobal)

        Miles to ride

In the last 4+ years I have averaged 11K per year. If it is not raining hard when I head to work and less than 60% chance of rain, I ride. 54 miles round trip to work. I use my rain gear and electric gloves, depending on weather and temp. Vetter fairing with lowers that I haven't used yet, too hot in Houston right now. Almost 50 years of riding in NY and here, and this is easy riding compared to NY.

              I got you all beat.

I do 60 miles a day, 5 days a week. So, that comes out to 300 miles a week for some 50 weeks a year, so that would be about 15k a year.
(not counting those winter days where there's snow/ice on the road)
(not many of those here on the coast of VA)

For 2011 I have put on just over 7K so far. This is a little less than average for me, but since SWMBO started working full-time we commute more together and she doesn't like pillion...

                  Lots

I wear out at least two sets of tires, usually 2 rear tires to each front tire for a minimum of 3 tires on the rear and one front. I do about 15K to 17K/yr. The odo said 70710 on 1-10-11 and now says 86300 which is 15590 so far. I use it for everything I can, all the errands, work, and weekend rides with my riding buddy to all kinds of fun places. I don't think there is a canyon road or any kind of twisty around here we haven't done many times over. She rides a GSXR 1000 and not so agressive that the XS can keep up with her. I do scrape off the sidestand end and right side foot peg a lot.

                    season never ends now...

Miles are way down this year due to relocation from Michigan to Texas, but hoping to still crack 15,000. I didn't use much vacation time yet and despite being a chilly 60 degrees today should hit 70 tomorrow. Next week is the Lone Star Rally in Galveston, so I think I will ride to San Antonio

Last two years I was commuting about 75 miles per day, round trip. I put about 28K per year on the bikes, mostly on the BMW now. Commute is now only 12 miles round trip, so total will be down a little. I now have to time for some weekend rides!

"I got you all beat" George.

Well George, Maybe not All of us. But that is about 3 times the mileage of the average motorcyclist. Average is about 5000 miles per year. 2500/year average for Harley owners.

You are certainly doing your part for energy conservation & traffic reduction. You probably got most of the tree huggers beat there too.

Bikes are good for travel & touring too. I rode my XS11 to XSive riders rally SE, XSeast in Wellsborro, PA and Lost in IL in Rockfalls, IL.

                          Excuses, excuses...

I've been averaging @ 10,000 a year for the last several years, until my cancer op and recovery, and the collapse of the “housing bubble.” I used to take care of a lot of business on my bike “in the day:” estimates, bill collecting, trouble shooting, supply runs. Health and economics has slowed me down somewhat. That and a narrowly averted tranny lock up (@ 130,000 miles.). Scoot ('79 Special,) is down for the Winter. With the grace of God, and the help of DiverRay, I hope to have a hopped-up and re-built XS11 Special by Spring!

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                          I've been riding since 1959.

                                My miles per year update

Since changeing jobs and now a truck driver, my bike mileage has dropped dramatically. Now less than 100 miles on both bikes combined this year. The E battery won't even start the bike anymore. I'm too tired on my few days off (1/2 days most times). I do ride the LG to meetings.
Now my 18-wheeler miles is a different story. 100,000 + miles per year, and paid for it. 39 states so far in 4 years. Quickly closing in on half-million miles. My truck now has just over 650,000 on it. Company will trade it in in another 100,000. I really don't want a new one.
