I just saw the fairing that you mentioned on ebay. It is just like the one that I have. Mine has a scratch on the winshield that can be polished out. I have all the brackets. Mine has the same Yamaha emblem under the area under the windshield. It is solid, but not a shiney as the one on ebay. Interested? Make me a resonable offer.
You asked about buffeting, it's not bad at all, but WK and I didn't like the curvature of the windshield, it was kinda distorting.
Your mailbox is still full.

John, not sure what the deal is with the mailbox, it is almost empty now.
Looks like that windscreen should be below eye level?
Also, I posted on the final drive mod thread about grease. No responses yet. Exactly how do you get it greased back up properly with the moly. Namely, does any go on the smooth outside of the spline fitting where that goofy zirk fitting leads?
Thanks!80 SG

The grease goes inside the cavity where the driveshaft engages the FD. You have to pull the FD off to gain access to this area. Also, when you have the wheel off to lube the drive shaft, put a copious amount of grease on the hub clutch splines as well. The zerk fitting will not adequately lube the D/S splines.

Just deleted "sent messages"
Maybe that was the problem
FD is off and the inside if the cavity is greased. Just wondering about the smooth outer surface or anywhwere else. Should we just ignore the fitting as it seems to lube nothing?80 SG
