Riding is risky enough without giving the cages more reason to hit you. I have split down in Cincy when traffic was at a dead stop on I-75 on a 90 degree day. When the head pipes start to golw, it's time to move on, but even then, it was no more than 25 miles an hour in 3rd at nearly an idle, and my head was moving around the mirrors a lot more thna that guy in the video's head was.

Not to mention, it just flat P&%$# the cagers off and some of those guys ain't too stable....

I asked a CHP officer about lane-splitting guidelines. He told me that it's no more than 15 MPH over the traffic up to the posted speed limit. If everyone's standing still you can get-away with 15 MPH. If the posted speed limit is 55 and everyone's doing 50, you'll get popped for doing 65 or more.
That's on the freeways. City and county streets/roads have their own ordinances allowing or not.

I don't think your calculations are correct. If the traffic is going 50 mph and the posted limit is 55 mph, lanesplitting to go 65 mph would be a violation. Lanesplitting isn't a license to go over the posted limit. Think of it this way: if the posted limit were 30 mph and the traffic is going 50 mph, you couldn't lanesplit to go 65 mph and have it be legal.

I can't remember where i read the post but a rider wrote in that he was lane splitting with a CHP rider doing the same behind him in stopped traffic, when he saw a cager ahead of him look into his rearview mirror, make eye contact and then try to put the squeeze on the approaching rider, the first rider managed to get past and the driver ended up pinching the CHP between his bumper and the car next to him...

                    Broken arm....

Broke a guy's arm once when he tried to hit me as I went by. He didn't get the height right. He smacked the handlebar and the mirror and since I saw it comming, I was able to brace and not get dropped. I was probably doing at least 15 MPH, He He. It was in Hollywierd in the late '60's on Hollywood Blvd in stopped traffic and that little Honda Supper Hawk would go between cages real easy.

If I were to split lanes and someone opened a door on me intentionally, there would be heck to pay. Thankfully I don't have a gun permit

You don't need a permit. Hit the door softly, if possible, and call the CHP.

Only if you can prove it was on purpose.

Driving between 2 lanes of traffic should be felony stupidity, with lifetime ban from motorcycle riding.

And if you ever pull a gun on me you had better start using it, or you'll eat it.

The guy whose arm you broke likely didn't even know you were there, he probably stretched while yawning, not expecting an idiot to be driving by while he was stopped.

I've sat there on my bike and watched twits drive between the cars, and wanted to run them down and slap them myself. I can't believe it's legal in some places. Hell if that's legal, what can they say about wheelies, and driving on the sidewalk?

I think you'd have a very difficult time explaining why you opened your door in moving traffic.
