Hey .. no problem .. I'm still wearing yesterdays underwear :-). No I bought some black fuel lines yesterday afternoon. It is however not the thin walled stuff. But will do do now.

SO .. In spite of the UNI filter issue this morning I got a lot done. Clutch is fully installed and just waiting for the cover now, LHS of exhaust is installed and a lot of other loose ends were completed. Tank and side covers will be the next thing to address. they need color matching paint and pin stripping.
Here's some more Pics :-)

Got my Clutch cover this afternoon and installed it. WOW ... having the NOS engine covers makes all the difference...
Here's a pic of the right hand side of the engine. My bike WILL be on the road this weekend coming.

Well ... as of last night before hitting a 1/2 liter of rye I went out and bought a can of GAS!! Yes ... My bike is done and ready to fire up and tune. Barring no unforeseen difficulties I will be riding her the next dry day we have. At last I am ready to go :-) :-) I'll keep you posted on the "difficulties" part.

If I could for some reason have only one bike it would be my personal bike that is about to be built. I did this one over in stock configuration because I felt that it would be a shame to modify and destroy this bike given that I had almost all the original parts. These bikes are also somewhat more rare up here in Canada.
I have 100s of hours of my time invested into these 2 bikes and I would guess about 11 to 14,000 dollars. However I have 2 bikes and a backup engine etc. So that's about 6 to 7000 Canadian for each one of them. That's a bargain in my opinion because the restored bike will prove to be rather rare before I pass away.
It's value will increase at least to the brake even point.
My every day use hopped up bike is different and is for the PURE joy of biking and everything that biking is to me. I just love the smell of fine tuned exhaust, The roar of the pipes, the attention a NICE bike draws etc. The last time I was down town where the bikers hang out i had at least 30 people standing around the bike checking it out ans asking a lot of questions. I could see that many of the modern crotch rocket riders were not too impressed that their costly bikes were not in the proverbial lime light.

SWMBO and I experience a variation of this every summer when we're on our summer ride, wherever that happens to be. We'll be pullled in at some motel, and be in the parking lot doing a bit of clean-up and organizing for the next day. Invariably, somebody stops by for a chat to see just what it is we are riding, and in a lot of cases, the next phrase is " yeah, I used to have one of these way back in 19XX", or "my buddy useed to have one of these way back in 198xx". Every time this happens, I get that nice warm glow and I remember back to the days when I saw these bikes in the dealers' showrooms and could only drool over them. I wonder if the same thing will happen in another 20 years when I finally buy my Infinity FX45?
I think for many who remember... seeing a bike with the reputation of the XS11 that is in good shape and running is of great interest. It takes them back to a time when bike were more noticeably different from one an other then they are today. I could watch 20 or even 50 bikes go by these days and they all look the same but in different colors. I can't tell you what brand or size if my life depended on it. Back in the mid 70s to mid 80s you could see bikes go by and KNOW what they were based on their style as well as their factory prefered color. In spite of the unbeleivable speeds and handling of the new high tech bikes I prefered the days that are now gone. The XS1100 like the old Kaws and Susies is a bike with classic style, comfort and a load of class.

If I can make at least one person smile, or pee their pants a little, or maybe spit out their drink; then my day is not wasted.
It will take a while to get everything back in order but figured I should keep the bike stuff separate from the person stuff MSN does not allow the user to pick which photo albums are open to all or private so the change was necessary.
