Thats horrible. That is one of the worst types of animal cruelty. I think they should be prosecuted to the FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW and then some. Yeah I get mad at my dogs some times, but I could never do a thing like that.

That is amazing. I have worked with trouble kids all my career and seen several with animal abuse in their backgrounds...But what they did is WAY over any line.

According to this site all mass murderers tortured animals.
This is scary in that as a first sign of a future murderer this crime should probably rate the death penalty so as to save society from future horrible crimes that these evil monsters will undoubtedly commit.

If you don't want a long posts or don't like soap boxes, skip this post:
              Soapbox.switch.on()

We have all done things we are not proud of. I know I am certainly guilty of that, maby more than others. But you know, you learn from it and move on. Killing animals in such a cruel manner is not just people looking for a good time. It is an indicator of something missing in them. You have to wonder why they would do this. When immature people do things, they do not normally consider who they are hurting. They enter into a thrill mode and forget the affect it has on others. A crime of this nature is not possible to commit without thinking what the dog is going through. It could not have been done without the thought of what was actually going on. The fact that they did it while knowing the consequences and acted in a "premeditated" manner, means that it is not a phase which they can grow out of. They are in a sense "programmed" to do these types of heinous crimes. The question is that of whether or not they can be corrected.

What could cause some-one's mind to develop this way? Could it be violent video games? abusive parents? What? I personally blame it on immorality of our nation. Good moral values have to be taught in the home first. Society has made it hard for parents to teach/ discipline their kids. It is becoming illegal to spank kids. The adolescents of the past who have failed to grow up are now having kids. Their children are so screwed up and their numbers are growing so fast that our country is in jeopardy. I can honestly say that I got the crap beat out of me when I disobeyed. For talking back, I got a hard smack across the face. If I was really bad, I had to go outside, get a tree branch, trim it and give it too my dad. You can guess what he did with it. You know what, I stopped doing bad things. I know wear my Dad's favorite leather spanking belt. Somewhere along those lines, I leaned morality and good values. MY parents aren't perfect, but no one is. I am certainly not, but they sure knew how to instill moral virtue into a family of 4 kids. Now we are all growing up. My oldest sister is becoming a pastor, next is in the army, third is working toward an accountant degree, and I am working toward attendance of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Hopefully my kids won't do the things I did and so on and so forth. Its a legacy that must continue. Our country was founded on legacy and when we forget that, we fail. We destroy ourselves in a repetitive self destructive cycle. Prime indicators of our failing moral values are cases like these teens.

I don't meant that we all must go to church and be christian (though I most certainly am). I believe in freedom. Freedom to choose, to live, and freedom to exist in a world without sin. Everything that I mention is possible. We have proof that it is, whether you believe it or not. The Bible wasn't written as a joke. Our selfish nature tends to hold us back. That is why we must be taught, and we must teach what is necessary to live in a sin free world. And you know what, It starts in the home. I guess what I am trying to say is that we must take events like these as warnings what could happen to us all. We must act on these warnings, teaching others and our children what is necessary so that this does not happen. If we get this down right, all of our problems will work themselves out. AS they say, the rest is history.
Some last words on a late night: All our problems are linked and we must pour the foundation before we can build the roof.

Hobbyman, I have to agree. I was lucky enough to be raised on a dairy farm. Both parents present at pretty much all times. A lot of chores to be done, a lot of hard work. This is why I'm not a dairy farmer now. But I learned a lot form my parents, and I also learned what consequeneces weew if I acted up. A few good corections with my dads belt would make me remember. But the one that hurt the worse was when I lost the privalidge of riding my Bridgestone 90 motorcycle for a month. I learnt that you should not chase cows with it. But I learnt responsibilty and what having a work ethic means.

                    Must be sickening

After reading the first post I decided not to look at whatever the link was. I get very upset when someone abuses an animal and it sort a' makes me sick so I won't look at it.

                      PETA, a real PITA!

                      Hey Jeffe,

I LIVE in the metroplex where this PETA thing is happening! People think that PETA is for the protection of animals. What's coming out in this trial is that their philosophy is that many of these animals that would be taken to the "pound" for possible adoption would NOT get adopted, and would eventually be put to death by "GAS"? Now, I don't work in the animal care industry, so I can't speak for whether the public government institutions(pounds) use gas for their euthanasia vs. lethal injection?? I do know that private VETS use injection to put animals down!

They(PETA) believe that the animals dying via GAS is inhumane, SO....they get these animals and then put them to death via lethal injection instead! It's just that THEY GOT CAUGHT dumping the animals instead of creamating them or disposing of them thru proper burial, etc.!?

Hopefully this will open peoples eyes to this pathetic organization, and lead to it's eventual demise!

Don't get me wrong, I like animals very much, and don't want to see them get abused like in the above video. But we need and use all sorts of animals for food. PETA extremists would have us all be vegetarians! Good riddance. !

                        Hobby Man,

Amen Brother. Great insight for one so young LOL. However, this subject has nothing to laugh about. These two young men have some very serious problems. I do not believe in the death penalty for religious reasons (though the secular side of me certainly wants to...) but something has to happen these two pschos from doing something similar to a human being. I'd say a good life sentence is the only solution here, but I think we'd be sending them to a finishing school...

Ya know, it takes over $30k a year to support a convicted killer, when bullets are so cheap. I support public hanging of these bastards, and gang punks too. I'll even buy the first rope. There are a lot better things to spend that kind of money on. Some of these pieces of excrement shouldn't be using up any more precious oxygen, and need a case of sudden, instant lead poisoning. I don't mean some poor slob you catches his wife messing around, but socio-paths like those two mentioned above, and the guys in Jasper,Tx. that dragged that poor SOB behind a pickup. They shouldn't be breathing anymore. Punishment in kind. Ya kow how the government will pay a farmer with grain not to grow any grain. I have heard it called payment in kind...A scumbag should be treated the same way his victim was treated. Timothy Mc Vey should have had 168 M-80's strapped to his body, and then set them off one at a time. Blow off the fingers first, then the hand, wrist, forearm, ...you get the message.

See the problem with gov't execution is that some genius figured that we must sped big bucks on painless methods. I few cent bullet would do the job nicely. I know that it is wrong to kill but that does not mean that I don't believe in the death penalty. The old testament is full of sinful people being killed. The grey area is in our justice system when innocent people are convicted and guilty are let free. We have some fundamental flaws in out criminal justice system that need to be attended too. We should have the death penalty but it should not be used for everyone. We also need more fulsome prisons which along with the death penalty would act as deterrent from committing crimes. Deterrents are one of the most powerful tools that when utilized can keep society in line. You can only do so much by building new prisons and creating new punishments. Like I said before, we need to fix the problem, not create more solutions to deal with the affects.

The flaw in the death penalty is that its real hard to correct when you find out that the person you just executed didn't do the crime they convicted for.

Also one of the reasons so many people left England and came here and eventally fought for independence, including some of my direct ancestors, is because of a repressive criminal justice system similar to that being proposed here.

Becareful what you wish for, you just might get it.
