While the Cat's Away...the Mice Will Use Power Tools in the Kitchen!

The story (and pics) is here

Tools in the Kitchen (sung to "Fool for the City" by Foghat)

Goin' to the super store, got you on my mind,
Money sure is pretty, I'll leave it all behind,
This is my decision, I'm praying I’m done ‘fore you come home this time.

'Cause I've got tools in the kitchen, I've got tools in the kitchen,
Tools in the kitchen, I've got tools in the kitchen.

Breathin' all the dusty air, cuttin’ and drillin’ some,
If I can’t get it done on time, I'll just get up and run.
I'm ready for the doghouse, ‘cause the delivery hasn’t come!

'Cause I've got tools in the kitchen, I've got tools in the kitchen,
Tools in the kitchen, I've got tools in the kitchen.

I'm like a fish out of water, I'm just a man in a hole.
The kitchen’s a mess and the shipment’s on hold.
I ain't no winey boy, I'm just a desperate man.
I'm gonna get it done just as fast as I can.

I'm tired of layin' back, hangin' around,
Waitin’ for that truck, that should be city bound.

    {rippin guitar solo here}

I ain't no winey boy, I'm just a desperate man.
I'm gonna get it done just as fast as I can.

I'll hightail it for Main Street, step into the crowd,
Jump from a building, if I don’t do this job proud.
If she sees mess I’ve got, I'll be standing on a cloud.

'Cause I've got tools in the kitchen, I've got tools in the kitchen,
I've got tools in the kitchen, I've got tools in the kitchen...
I've got tools, (tools in the kitchen) Tools in the kitchen, (tools in the kitchen)
I've got tools, (tools in the kitchen) Tools in the kitchen, (tools in the kitchen)

An update on the Kitchen Saga...

I'm trying really hard to get lai...ur...I'm trying really hard to surprise the wife when she gets home from her trip...with all new appliances.

Got the fridge today...unfortunately I didn't get the range (the ONE appliance I HAD to have).

      Anyway, an update...and more pics

I'm just praying it gets here before the wife does. I suspect the positive impact of all this work/surprise would be slightly lost on her if, when she gets home, there is still a gaping hole in the kitchen where her range used to be.
        Gust a little envious........
NOT of your new appliances...but of missing the expression on SWMBO face when I managed a little "domestic" surprise, sometimes got a little dance too.

Okay, I may yet survive this. The range came today! WooHoooo!

I can't begin to describe the total awesome this stove is. Both ovens are complete (broiler and lower burners in each) with auto preheat...you select the temp you want digitally (say 432 degrees!) and it kicks on and preheats...telling you all the way what the temp is currently...beeps when it's ready etc...

The bottom oven is full size...for your turkey dinner and such...the top is just right for about 99% of your other cooking...you can use both at the same time...they are self cleaning/etc.

The top is really cool...5 burners...one (the center one) is a warming eye, but the rest are full burners. The front two you flip a switch and they can be different sizes... left (9" or 6") or right (12" or 9") depending on what size pan you want to use on it. It heats up FAST and evenly.

What a pleasure to cook on! SUPER easy to clean too.

I also built a pull out drawer for her pots and pans...AND added new sliders to some of the other drawers that weren't right (gad! What a pain that was):

It slides nice and smoothly on roller-ball bearing full-extender sliders (big wamput $$).

Should be an interesting day (next week) when the wife gets home (she hasn't a clue any of this is going on).

Celebrated my birthday tonight out for pizza with friends.

Anyway, more later...when I'm not so beat (or horny).

So, with a fridge that big, are you gonna' be able to claim a small section as your own as a dedicated storage space for some sort of liquid product in a spun aluminum can?

                  Adventures in household wiring

                  Hi Dragonrider,
back in the UK everything is 240V and 110V is for safety tools on building sites.
Had me quite the learning curve coming to 110V/220V North America.
No more ring-circuit, every plug on it's own wire & mostly too damn many on the same breaker, how quaint.
No more 3KW electric kettle, gotta WAIT while that sissy 1,300W job boils the water for the morning coffee.
And back in 1969 hard-wiring the appliances was SOP. Imagine the surprise
moving into my first house in Winnipeg to find naked wires where the stove went. Imagine the shock when Mr Stupid grabbed the wire and found the circuit was still live.

There are actually 6 slots in the one door that hold cans...and it is back cooled so that those cans are 10 degrees colder than the rest of the fridge!

I am so ashamed. Now I know why SWMBO is mad. I have been refinishing our kitchen for well over a year now. I'm down to flooring and counter tops. Better get on the ball...

Man, its sad when we get pumped over stuff like new 'fridges and stoves.

Im thinkin with that black thing going in your kitchen, some gold trim and a well placed, gold XS emblem would look cool on both of them. Be the first on you block with a midnight special fridge for you midnight raids.

I kill me!!! Gotta go, its time for my meds, or is it time for bed, or did I need to call ED?

Not from a cruise ship in the Carribbean...nor from her parent's house (where she'll be for a couple days before she flies home). For her parents, the internet == teh evils!

Besides...it's to my everlasting shame that she generally doesn't read my blog.

Guess she waits for the book eh?
