    Thanks!

btw, would have Dennyz clean it up since he rode it in the rain
I would think that someone lilke you, an XS-XJ Guru, would understand that half the fun of getting that baby home was actually getting to polish her up!

I can't wait for the clouds to part long enough to take her out.

It's not truly miserable unless it's around freezing, raining, and you didn't don a waterproof jacket and boots. There's nothing like soaking wet feet to make a bad ride horrible!

As fer actually getting to polish her up!...

        It started raining last night.
Dennyz or Prom musta left the back door open agin???
Will ride to work and later this morning need to go to Stockton (1 1/2 hour ride each way). Really don't like to ride in the rain, but would like it even less in a cage.

        btw
did check out you web site. Very cool.
Have not been up North since early eighty's and once upon a time lived in Milwaukee. This winter will make several trips up the Cal coast (fewest people time of year). Just need to make a holder on my 80G for my fly rods.

If I still lived on the SF Peninsula, I'd be riding all year. It gets kind of cold here, so that might be a deterrent. It never got too chilly in Redwood City. I surely do miss that place.

            Redwood City

            Up the hill to Alices
            Skyline to the north
35 to 9, to the south
84 to San Gregorio and the Ocean

Don't go there on weekends tho. Would not believe how many bikes/cages/bicycles populate that area on a nice day

Weather almost as good as Hayward

Ain't that the truth... I used to spend time out there way back before it became popular...many, many moons ago.

Weather almost as good as Hayward
Don't know 'bout that... the sign entering our town read "Weather best by government test"

There used to be a really fancy resturant tucked into the redwoods up on Skyline but I can't remember the name. That was one of those places we only went to on special occaisons. Back in the olden days for fun, I used to play at the Pioneer Saloon at the top of Woodside Road where it intersected with Canada (prounced CanYana) road. Good live music, tiny dance floor, great drinks... ahhh, those were the days. There was another fun place out thereabouts called Boots & Saddles long ago, but it burned down. I loved those old rickety clubs nestled deep in the woods for their atmosphere and generally good crowd of patrons.

But not to get too far off topic, I'd ride there winter or summer if I could. I'm trying not to let my rainy day mishap last month dictate when or where I ride my bike.

Thanks for the little trip down memory lane!

I ride in winter on days that are clear, dry and a little warmer (35+). I also keep the battery tended and a magnetic engine block heater on to allow for easier starts. Anyone riding in a state that uses Mag Chloride on the roads needs to be especially cautious because road crews can over-apply this chemical and it has been known to be VERY slick and cause accidents! I speak from experience!

This time of year is fun around here (Central Calif).
The leaves are falling off the trees and laying on the road. Then it rains and turns really slick.
                  WWWEEEEeeeeeeeee.......!!!!!!!

Last winter I left work and it was POURING rain. I rode to a game store then home, maybe 10 miles. Got home and wife said she was confident in my riding but she's worried about all the other idiots on the road. I explained to her that I was extremely safe in the rain, moreso than on a sunny day. On a nice day there are bikes all over the place and people don't notice you. In the pouring rain every person in a car points at me and says "look at that guy on the bike in this rain". They give me plenty of space.

When it is below 40 deg, I get that same reaction a lot. Most people here don't ride in these temperatures because of wind chill. I get a lot of stares.

Cold - yes Ice, Snow, and Rain - no

Cold keeps the bike cool and the bike keeps me warm

Up here in the PNW wehave had afun winter. Rain, Rain, dim sun, more rain, then again, more rain. Oh and a few days of snow!

As to riding, yep, been taken the girl out mainly to work. They all think I am nuts to ridein the cold, but then I do have gear for it! Nice wide Pacifico fairing, Artic Pull over trousers, heavy gloves.

I was able to ride a few days in Jan. as it was dry.

Denny, brave brave man to take Meri's bike on the freeway here during the winter! Especially in the rain when the average driver's intelligence drops another 10 points!

I saw Bohn from Kansas, Cody from Oklahoma, and Bob from Iowa all riding in January.

I am not so sure that riding in FL counts as winter riding thouth . They were grinning. )
