Thanks I'm uploading a few "before" picks now. That's a MAC 4 into 1 that I bought at e-bay 20 years old in the box. Got it for 225 plus shipping and import. Total was just over 300 USD. I would love to find a 4 into 1 KerKer in good shape.

Here's a link to a Ottawa area Forum where the full history of the rebuild of this bike is posted. You would however have to reg to see the pics.
There is also a running thread there covering the hop up of this bikes back up engine.
Nice work! Man, you've been busy, eh?
I'm so jealous because my bike is stored in my uncles shed because we're living in an apartment and saving for a house. So I've got nowhere to work on anything... it sucks.
One day I'll have a garage, and life will be a little sweeter....
(I have a storage unit filled with tools just waiting...)
Thanks for the pics..!
It was in deed a BIG job and I did it like a "man on a mission". I stripped everything off it except the wiring harness and cleaned and checked specs on every part. I had to 600 wet / dry sand all the black paint off the metal parts and restore them item for item. the only way to clean the engine was to strip it with spray-able paint stripper and then glass bead it. I worked on it every day after work for a few hours and every weekend doing a 12 hour shift each day . Thanks god for e-bay. I found all the parts I needed and the compete 78 backup engine for it at e-bay. The backup engine has only 27000 KM on it and the insides are close to mint. I did however completely BLOW the budget on this project but I am not disappointed. This bike draws a far amount of attention anywhere it's parked. I LOVE this bike as much today as I did when I first owned one in 1980.

Thanks ... The engine cases were restored using a product called "English Custom Polish" This stuff did a GREAT job and did it fast. It is used after a wet/dry sanding using 600 wet/dry sandpaper for metal. I will Post a before and after PIC of the timing cover in a few min and you can see how well this stuff works.

Is that good or bad??? It was for sure a MAN ON A MISSION job

Thanks .. I did however have an advantage over some people and that is that fact that I already knew the bike pretty well. I had one in 1980 and had striped it down twice in 3 years. Once to mod the frame and once to repair a seized 2nd gear wheel.
I started the work on April 2nd and finished it on May 14th.

No frame mods to this bike yet. I will do this one this winter if the time to do it is there.
Required mods are
Wrap the head stem with steel plate and weld to tubes to make it a lot more rigid. Add short cross tubes just above the swing arm bearing caps to reduce twist, kiddy corner tube right behind battery box, Same up front behind the exhaust but not full kitty corner, need access to cam adjuster. I will post picks when this gets done. Doing this reinforcing makes the XS1100 a very stable framed machine. It dose however have to be done with maintenance in mind as well as future re & re of parts. with a little planning and care the frame on these bikes can be greatly improved on and it can be done CHEAP.
