    Carb problems

Just bought a 79 xs11s, ran awesome on the test ride and then about 100 miles later carb 1 and 2 began flooding. Long story short, one of the pegs on each carb that hold the pin that holds the float in place is broken off. Guess the jb weld the seller used lasted 100 miles or so. Any ideas on a fix that doesn't entail buying carbs? Not really in the budget right now

There IS a posted correct repair thread posted......maybe in the repair section.....or maybe someone will jump in here with the link for that.

Yup that JB weld stuff does not hold up inside carbs. I have just recently (2 days ago) been successful in using the HTS-2000 aluminum repair kit on a set of mine. It took a lot more heat than originally thought to do the job but it will work.
There is a thread on carb float post repair on here for sure and it may be down in the maintenance or repair sections but it is available on the site. I am searching other stuff or I would look it up for you. Good practice to search the site and the use of google with xs11 in the search terms is a shortcut. Have fun.

Here is my totally unorthodox post repair method.
I simply cut off a brass rifle casing and a little snipping and drilling and then slipped it over top of the broken post stud. Looks weird for sure but it works!

Thats a interesting way of fixing the broken float post problem. What caliber shell did you end up using? Thanks

                TallBob,

After quite a bit of experimental trial and error with the various brass shell casings that I had laying around here, I settled on .222 Remington.

I have pictures of the process if anyone is interested.
