"What they do have is an implacable, unrelenting presence and movement that bespeaks massive power lurking behind paint and chrome. They don't wail like a screeching ninja, the don't rumble like a harley. They just growl like a spactic, stressed out badger waiting to rip your face off and eat your soul." Trainzz~RIP~
The seat itself is what was on my bike when I bought the first one, without the crazy stitching. Looked awful IMO, even with the stitching it would still look awful.
I can assure you I shipped mine to a fellow member somewhere across the country IIRC, and the shipping cost were not half that as I recall.

Stupid money and you could prolly buy a brand new one like that for the shipping cost. Crazy cool seat tho
You wouldn't be able to touch a custom stitched seat like that for less than $300 new.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Well it went for $250 shipped. I bet you could find a local place that would do something similar for almost the same price. A stock REPLICA is only $75 or so. I bet if you bought your own material and brought in a design they would do it for that if you asked nicely Plus I agree with DG, those seats are effin hideous. I would consider one like that on the Venturer or my SG tho Plus they are way less fabric and less intricate than that King and Queen seat. Just one man's opinion.

I think they made a touring seat like ti for the Venturer, and some of the other Standards. On a Special though....well...not my style...
As to the custom stitching, well that is alot like any other way you customize a bike or part of it, you narrow the field of who it owuld appeal to, but raise the value to the few it does appeal to. Trick is to find one of those few willing and able to pay what you want.
Here is my first SH the night I got it home with that similar seat on it for comparison.
The Pan and seat foam would be worth the expense. To find a really good pan will cost a lot. I kind of liked the custom stitching although it would not be something I would do myself.

Couple of more parts bikes of which 2 more will live!
i bought 1 a few years ago without
all the stitching, as others have said,
its an ugly seat especially for a naked xs,
i ended up cutting the edges of the foam
and got it recovered.
still big and ugly but was good when i carried pillions.

Lance you are missing the point - none of us want these King/Queen seats because they look cool....we need the cushion.
If you lower it till it looks cool then there isn't enough cushion for the pillion rider.
If you look at this seat on mine - it started as the same King/Queen that Don shows was on his first SH when he got it home - I had a guy cut the sides down and "flatten" it out a bit - he did replace top layer of foam but still you can feel the pan if you sit on the back portion of the seat for any length of time (and that is just sitting, not riding)
So for longer distances I want MORE foam between my butt and the pan.

I will readily admit that that K/Q seat is much more comfortable for the long hauls. To be honest, my plan was to get a stock seat for around town riding, and keep the K/Q for long hauls. However, when I wrecked, I initially planned to give up riding. So I sold off the K/Q seat along with the factory seat I had. The one on the bike now is fine, but yeah, time I got back from XSEast, my back side was not a happy camper.
