  • Any "Affordable" engine Re-builders in CA?

Ok so i found out my motor doesn't kick over, frozen, etc... so my option is a complete tear down & rebuild. I was going to attempt to do one myself but i'd rather have one on the road 1st then tackle the other one (I have 2 11's) Anyone know of a "GOOD" re-builder or has an EXTRA MOTOR to sell? Let me know! Cheers!

FYI, do a search on frozen or locked up engines in the forums. I know DaBubble just had a thread on this and was able to free his up. Might be worth a try and may not need to rebuild.

      Hey clobe,,,,you are in luck

Hey clobe,,,i have a partially dissassembled complete engine you can have for pickup if you want. My bro inlaw also has one. If you contact 3phase, who lives in la, could guide you in the right direction for the rebuild, put back together or whatever. He is a wiz with these bikes.....i live in north county san diego, so letme know if interested. The member, the wiz, left me two engines, one i am keeping the other you can have,,,,,,,mike in s.d.

        Forgot

Forgot to tell you,,,,dxsger is right, try to free the engine up first, it could be simple. I add tranny oil and pbblaster to the plug hole, let sit a couple of days and keep jiggling the crank bolt or put in gear and rock back and forth,,,,,let us know what works, mike

You guys are awesome!!! I'll try that once i get home....Since i'm VERY NEW to this bike & Forum....1st things 1st....I need to get a service manual, because i have no idea where the Plug Hole is. I've heard several methods of adding it to the cylinders & some thru the valve covers. I'll search for DaBubble's thread...hopefully i'll find it! Thanks Guys!

Soccer4M- I might take u up on that offer!! I have friends in Oceanside, CA so that shouldn't be a problem! Let me know if u need any parts as well! I have plenty from the 2 bikes i got, Cheers!

Half the fun of working on these old scoots is doing it on the cheap

Good luck on breaking the motor free. Never know, she just may purr after the rust is broken free
