IMHO all the stuff will "bolt-n-go" on your Std. (Or any Std for that matter...) No Saws-All, saber saw, or plasma cutter required on your bike or the mounting brackets. Setup was designed for, installed on, and removed from a Std.

If you drive down to DC maybe Obama can help you install them on your Std. Me, I'm in the other Washington: Seattle, Space needle, Mt. St Helen, rainy all the time, etc.

Well I have a 1979 standard xs1100,
will all this stuff fit without any modifications?
also, I have no skills on how to install all that stuff!
if I drive from Vermont to Washington DC,
will you help with the install?

Hm mm, well if you throw in a 1979 standard seat in the mix it is a deal!
my seat is all duck taped and band aids from the PO and it sucks!
I am embarrassed to be seen riding it!
I searched eBay for one (a seat),
and they want mad money for a crappy seat!

Seating Options

If I had one of those king/queen seats to throw in, I would. After all, nothing says " Road Tour" better than the fairer sex properly seated behind you and leaning back comfortably against the padding. (What you the rider lean back on/into is only a matter of consenting adults....)

JC Whitney and other vendors have seat covers for the Std. This is IFF (If and only if...) your seat pan and padding is in good shape. IIRC the covers were less than $60.

I'd call it um....Blue. Maybe even "Dark Blue."



But then again most of the women I know say I can't distinguish colors as well as they can: Light Blue, Powder Blue, Sky Blue, Navy Blue, Robin's Egg Blue, Microsoft Blue. If I had to answer this question with my hand on the bible I'd just say Blue. I don't even know if it's Yamaha Blue

But all the pieces and the fuel tank are the same color. Looks like the original paint and in good condition too. Missing in the above photo are the windshield and the headlight. Both are in good shape and included in the "package deal."

If you use XS11.com's "search" function located on the blue bar on every page here, you can enter in "seat cover" and get a whole lot of info from posts/threads where people mention seat covers. (Some people have got seat covers from E-bay for $39.00)

Hmm...Would they fit your 1100G? The 1100G is a lot like the Std, but exactly how close is it? Frankly I dunno. Therefore I can't give you a definite answer. I can tell you that the stuff I have will NOT fit on a Special. There are some differences in the frame especially at the rear where the bags/mounting brackets go. Consider the following taken from a post I made last year.....:

Here's the mount plate held against bike. Notice that the Vee notch does not line up with the existing sissy bracket bolt. Saber saw could change that situation.






But here is where it makes my brain hurt. The lower end of the bag "cage" is slipped over the rear footpeg bolt...





And I presume the upper end should mount to the top of the shock...But it is way short. Cage measures 10 inches between holes and bike measures 11 and 1/2.





Square peg versus round hole??? At least for this bracket and my Special.

You could go out to your XS1100G and measure the distance between the Upper rear shock mount bolt and the footpeg bolt. If it's about 10 inches then I'd say that the odds went way up that this bagger setup really would fit your bike

Also, for the record here I still have the setup and it is still complete. Unless I post to this site/thread and say that it is SOLD then any/all readers should act as if the setup is still available.

Something doesn't measure up!

I just measured my bike from center of top shock mount stud to center of passenger foot rest bolt and I come up with 13 3/16" and no other mounting holes or bolts are within the 10" range. My bike is definately the standard model. Would there be another bracket or something to make up this difference or if someone else has any info please chime in. Thanks!

Confusing, ain't it?? Unless someone else has pics of their Std bags mounted/unmounted with the hardware mounting points?

(Sigh...) I've resigned myself to strapping my disc golf gear to my sissy bar.

Conditional upon Condition

From the pics everything looks to be in good shape. I will need to paint this set up to match mine and am curious if there are any cracks in any of the peices. Also does the chrome have any rust or pits that some elbow grease won't take care of ? Do You have the lights and the rubber seals for the lids for the bags? Does the key fit all the peices and the locks all work? Are any of the fasteners included? Are the mounts for the fairing included also? Thanks!

IIRC there were no major cracks/splits or structural breaks in any of the pieces. I considered it good-to-go and was just going to bolt it all on. I do recall taking a lot of time/extra care to wrap everything up in order to protect the paint.

The chrome had some rust but I don't believe it was at the point where it needed to be rechromed or anything. I never got to the point where I took out the chrome polish or naval jelly to see how well it would look. I guess I went into brainlock when it came to figuring out how to install the bags.

The lights for the bags didn't come with the stuff when I got it. My plan was to get something that matched well either from an auto parts store or maybe a bike salvage yard.

The rubber seals for the lids didn't come with the stuff either. I did a search here on the site and found that others had went to an auto body shop and found a suitable replacement.

The key for the locks did come with. I checked it on the bags/trunk and it worked. Also I got the key for the fuel tank and had a replacement made from a locksmith. He did that "enter the code" thing and the new key worked perfectly in the fuel tank lid.

The fasteners to mount the bags to the bag "cages" were included. I remember that... There were some nuts/bolts/washers which were rattling in the trunk and the fairing. A. Weiss did the removal and he's pretty good at consolidating all the parts that go together. Since I never did install all this I'm not certain that you wouldn't have to go to the hardware store and get some fasteners.

Yep. The mounting bracket for the fairing was included as well.

Just a thought, but when I was going to do this transformation from "naked" to "full dress" on my bike, I realized that my bike was black. The setup was Blue. My plan was to install everything including the fuel tank, This would leave only the plastic side covers as a color mismatch. It seemed that the only thing I needed was an extra set of side covers painted to match. It's just that in my opinion painting a couple side covers was a lot easier way to deal with it. As a bonus it would appear to others that I had two bikes: one black and one blue. (sigh...)

Great!!! Thanks for the detailed info. I am restoring this bike and haven't ridden it since 2001 and since there's an amazing amount of XSives to tour with I would like to set up this bike for just that purpose.
