  • 1979 XS110 Standard - 1 owner

My dad bought this bike new in 1979. He put just under 50,000 miles on it. I believe it is a Standard by the info found here on this site by color and year. Please correct me if I am wrong.

He rode this bike to and from work daily rain or shine until he put it up.

Dad has passed and the bike has been sitting for few years. I do not know if I have the ability to get it fixed plus I am states away. I will try to sell first to someone who knows what they are doing and loves the XS platform.

Included - 1979 XS1100 pictured. Also comes with spare tank and motor!! Motor was running when removed from another bike.

Asking $1000.00 for all - will have to be picked up in Wentzville MO. You bring the trailer and help to load.

      Runs

This bike does run.. here is a small video of it running. All we did was put in some fresh gas and jump it and she started right up. I did not let it run long as I know it needs to have all the fluids replaced etc. but this proves she does start up and run. I then found a new battery that was sitting at our house, we put in the acid and charged it and it seems to be as good as new.

Sell ALL for $1000.00 OBO - Mom wants it gone so she does not have to look at it every day and be reminded.

Also I was reading over the forums and someone was getting mad that new members joined only to sell parts or a bike. I am afraid I am in the same boat. I joined as you all are XS people and I assumed this would be the best place to start. I looked over the rules and I could not find how many posts I was supposed to have before I posted something for sale. I hope I am not going against the rules.

      Thanks

It does look like a really nice project. It may be a tough time of year to sell with winter closing in and holiday budgets.

          Good luck with your sale.

Smartest choice I've seen a 'newbie' to these ole' scoots take...........good job. Looks fairly decent........even with the 4into1 exhaust that's been put on it. 79-81 Standards DO make for nice full-dressers instead of all hacked up trying to make something out of them that they were NOT meant to be.

Gordon THANKS so much for coming to get the bike. I can not tell you how happy we all are that it will be kept like it is and will be back in running condition.

This was by far the hardest thing for my mom to let go of after having it in our family since 1979. I expected a lot of tears but with your excitement about the bike and your willingness to come get it from so far really put her at ease.

All mom could talk about was how happy you were about the bike and she compared that to the excitement my dad had for it and that sealed the deal. I am not positive but I have a pretty good feeling had anyone else showed up for the bike she would have been much more reluctant to let it go. I am truly surprised she was so happy about it. Since the passing of my dad mom has not had much to cheer about but this really seems to have put her at ease at least with the bike. Again thanks for your time and being so nice to my mom and the pure excitement you have about the bike. It really means a lot.

                        Thanks

Should be done by the weekend

I have been non stop on the bike all week and should have it on the road by the weekend.
Fixed all the electrical problems replaced bulbs cleaned and checked all connections
                              120 across the board PSI
all fluids replaced bearings greased new filters
Carb cleaned and new fuel lines
Finishing up the brake rebuilds tomorrow
                              cam chain adjustment
                              rebuild petcocks tomorrow
run on small tank to sync carbs Runs fantastic
                              replace tires this weekend
                              Valves shimmed
                              tank cleaned
Inspection tags and good to go
This bike is a beautiful original (with exception of the Kerker and SOFA) unmolested well taken care of bike it is a pleasure to work on.
It was interesting to see some of the shop work on the carbs done over the years not up to the standards learned on this site.
They did chip a post but still functional and the tees for the vents were pointed down no way to line to the air box had to split the carbs to get them back upright
This is one beautiful bike I cant wait to finish and get it on the open road I am thrilled to have it a great Joy.
