This bike is a beautiful original (with exception of the Kerker and SOFA) unmolested well taken care of bike it is a pleasure to work on.
It was interesting to see some of the shop work on the carbs done over the years not up to the standards learned on this site.
They did chip a post but still functional and the tees for the vents were pointed down no way to line to the air box had to split the carbs to get them back upright
This is one beautiful bike I cant wait to finish and get it on the open road I am thrilled to have it a great Joy.
'shop' work on carbs doesn't surprise me a bit! Amazing the mechanics I've come across in recent years who were specificly factory trained on the XS11's back in the day, and in actuality haven't a clue when 'picking' their brain in conversation..........just to find out what they actually know and don't know. The BEST shop information IS on THIS site......period.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.
Cant wait to see the pics of the process and the movie of the first ride!!!!! Sounds like you have been spending a lot of time with the bike already.
Have I mentioned THANKS TO XS1100.com??? I can't tell you how happy we are it will live again and not turn into some parts bike or a bobber. I am sure glad I found this site.
