          I wonder if there are wny ride-characteristics to a special versus a standard with a rig attached? I guess what I'm asking is if one would do better over the other?

                  A big part of the value in this bike is because of the sidecar....a Vetter Terraplane is quite valuable...they are scarce...you might even say rare...The bike itself is only fair....

                      ....very true, and easily goes for $1500 and up with all the attachments just itself!
