  • The Scorpion

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one XSer to dissolve the mechanical bands that have connected him with another, and to assume among the powers of Yamaha, the separate and equal station to which the laws of physics and of motorcycle's God entitle him, a decent respect to the opinions of fellow XSers requires that he should declare the causes which impel him to the separation...

I hold these truths to be self-evident that all Yamahas are created equal and are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are, life, liberty and the pursuit of the ride!

While I now have a newer Yamaha, this does not in any way diminish the awesomeness that is the XS11! It introduced me to a world of super bikes, that I had never experienced until I became familiar these machines, for the first time, back in the early '80s. I knew I had entered into a life to which I would never regret, motorcycling.

I have made the decision to let Scorpion go to another. It is a good friend, great machine, and one heck of a memory generator!

Pics and info to follow... I have to let this settle a bit first...

              Here is where I am...

I am thinking $2200 for anybody, outside of this forum, and $2000 for anyone inside.

This is really hard for me...

Your bike looks really nice, if all is as good as you say it is, the only thing standing in your way of getting your price is that seat. Contact Mac on ebay and I bet he'll hook you up for not too much $$$$.
In my opinion, when someone pays over $1,250.00 +/- for an older bike it has to be mechanically flawless with ok cosmetics, or impeccable cosmetics with minor annoyances mechanically. And in all cases, in order to command that price, you have to give the new prospect a nice place to park his ass.

                Progressive springs, Showa rear shocks

Automatic CCT, RC Engineering 4 X 1 Exhaust, K&N Pods, #50 Pilot Jets, YICS Eliminator. Sorely missed.

                  Thanks for the insight!

I found this seat to be much more comfortable than the OEM seat. I had this one reupholstered with marine material, and had the foam updated.

But you think I should get an OEM saddle back on the bike? I will look into that!

                  Thanks,

                    Actual mileage

You guys are really sharp!! Yes, the speedo is not original, for Scorpion! It is from an SF!

The SG had that stupid 80MPH max, which we all know she will blow right passed!

I found this SF speedo on ebay, many years ago, and rolled the mileage up so that it matched the original mileage exactly!

(Yeah, 110MPH was not a problem... just sayin'... LOL)

Curious- What mod and what soft bags do you have? Like them? I am headed on a 2K ride on my79 XS Special and need to figure out some bags.

                          Thanks!

                            Chase Harper soft Bags

                            Hi Brian,

They are Chase-Harper soft bags. Kinda older now, but they were great!

They have a plastic inner form, that keeps them kinda rigid, but are still soft bags, and light.

Good zippers, and easy to hang on, and take off.

Very similar to the Chase-Harper 3300 ET4000 Saddle bags.

                            I liked them a lot.

I just noticed you have your turn signals moved back. I was hoping I wouldn't need to do that- we'll see.
