  • 1980 XS1100 special Chesapeake Virginia

Well the time has finally come to let my 1980 XS-1100 Special go.

I have had this bike for nearly 5 years. I have put ~ 18,000 miles on it since I bought it ~5 years ago.
I have always chnged the oil ~ 3,000 miles and used synthetics. I changed out the middle gear and final dive
fluids yearly and again I used only synthetics. I drove it 75 miles a day to get to and from work. Never let me down.

I have done a lot of mods on this bike.
I have installed a hydraulic clutch and installed a new Master cylinder for the clutch.I also installed new clutch springs.
I have upgraded the front brake master cylinder. I have replaced all of the brake lines with the stainless steel type.
I replaced the brake pads 2 years ago. I replaced all of the front and rear wheel bearings, steering stem bearings last summer. The bike has
    a 1960 mph speedo.
I rebuilt the rear brake master cylinder and all disk cylinders 2 years ago. I replaced the ignition switch and fuel tank top last year.
I have installed TCs spin on oil filter adapter. I replaced the throttle cable last year. The battery is 1 year old. I recently replaced the
king queen seat with a seat off of a auction site. I have upgraded the headlight
to a brighter one. The fork seals were replaced last year. The tool kit is with the bike.

Nearly all of the screws and bolts, washers , nuts have been replaced with stainless to help stop rust.

I have extra fenders, front wheel and othe parts.

I tried to list it here before Craigslist but the site was having trouble?
I have it listed for $1500 on Craigslist $1250 to a XS11 club member.

I have it listed on Craigslist with 2 pictures. Don't know how to add them here.

I have had a fun time with the bike and obtained a whole bunch of info & facts from this web site and it is greatly appreciated
A real nice bunch of folks here!

I hate to let it go but my health will only let me juggle one bike now.

Thanks for all of the help and insights.

She's gone. A real nice gentleman from Hampton bought her yesterday.
He is an xcesive must had 3 or 4 XS's.
I'm sure he will join up if he isn't already.
        He said he knew TC.
I followed him home on it for a last ride.
Ran great! I hate to have let her go but can't juggle more then 1 bike now.

Again I appreciate all the insights and info I got from this group over the Last 5 years. And look forward to a weekend ride

I'd really rather not say. I'm sure he will chime in when he is ready.
            George,
Would love to ride one weekend with you and T.C. and maybe the new owner as well.
I will have to wait until it cools off a little.

              ride

              Sure thing George,
The next time we get a little group ride together we'll include you too.
Do your PMs route to your email?, if so then for our next ride we'll PM you and you'll be in the know. Yeah, the heat is killing me too.

I only ask if it was Charles because he told me he had somethning new to show me. I guess I ASSUME'd that your bike might have been it.
anyway, I'll see Charles (chuck) soon enough.
