Most definitely a beautifully restored piece of art. I would almost be ashamed to ride it!
I did say almost!

It looks like you have to sell it when you hit your 60's (or maybe not):
If the original owner was 40 in 1978 and sold it in his "late 60's", this would have been circa 2006 @ age 68. We know that isn't the case, as the third owner (seller) bought it in 2002 (at age 58). If it was sold in 2001, the original owner was 63. Maybe he meant late 50's on the original owner, circa 1996? This would mean the second owner kept it for 6 years and was age 62 on the 2002 sale.Originally posted by sellerI am 68 years old and it is time to let someone else enjoy this wonderful motorcycle. I bought a new XS1100E in Feb. 1978 and always regretted selling it..... I am the third owner. It was bought new in Denver by a 40 year old engineer in 1978. In his late 60's he sold it to a 56 year old professional gentelman who did a lot of the work that has been done. I bought it in 2002 with 22,430 miles on it. It now has 26,040 miles.
It's neat to read about the history of it though. I often wonder where my bought-new-by-me '81 GS1000 is, and at any rate I hope to still be riding past age 68.
