Not sure its true but I once heard that the GL1800 was design was lead by the head of Honda's sport bike division, specifically because they wanted it to 'handle' well.
Well I could believe that...and after following some of these guys through some tight and fast twisties I have a newfound respect for these old geezers cause they may walk slow...but get 'em on their wings and watch out
Well a gentleman came to look and test ride the bike and its sold! I will still see it as i have agreed to help him out and stay in touch...so we are also gaining a new member. So he will introduce himself and I know he'll be in good hands here. Max's future as a stock bike are secure...no choppers or bobbers (at least I hope not...LOL). So the end of one chapter and onto the next. No real regrets 30 yrs is a damn good run and now its time someone else enjoyed it. If some of youse think I'd be leaving this site well I'm not because as Marty A eloquently states The XS/XJ1100s united us in our commonality but long after the bike is gone the friendships remain... and so it shall be...
Hey now. You keep your disparaging remarks to yourself.
I fully intend to keep the bike stock-ish. My plans are:
Speed bleeders
Fluid changes
Vetter lowers for the winter
Stock exhaust if one happens to come along
RIDE!!!

Stock exhausts are in the category of un-obtainium...And if you did find one be prepared to spend alot of money...alot!!!
I know it's very early to be posting this but, look for my posts next spring when Swamp Thing will be for sale. I'd like her to go to someone here first if possible. This old man just can't take the pounding anymore, I'll prolly go get myself a wing. She's a bagger now.
